We are researching out Grandfather, Albert Humphreys born Fulbeck, Lincs. in 1895. He was married to Ada and latterly resided at Heckington, Lincs., where he was the groundsman/factor/gardener at Heckington Hall. He died there in 1980.

Thomas Ovens was living in Heckington in the 1730s and 40s, and probably longer. He was married to Ann, the mother of my ancestor Elizabeth Ovens, born in Heckington in 1739. Later, he married Faith Hutchinson. The name Ovens was at that time, and for centuries before, virtually unknown in Lincolnshire. There are many in Wiltshire and Gloucestershire, though, and Thomas was an exciseman. Does anyone know where he came from, who Ann was, or when he died?

I am trying to trace my Grandfather William Bell. He died in 1925 aged 61 yrs, at Kirton Road in the sub district of Kirton. The 1901 Census states he was born at Heckington, I am unable to find any record of his birth, think he may have taken his mothers maiden name. I would welcome any information on the Bell family living in the Heckington, Lincolnshire area.

Edwards of Heckington
Have just found my GGGGG fathers will, who lived in Heckington, Lincs. What a find, as it details all his family and focuses on William Edwards Auctioner of Peterborough my GGGG father. Have now traced back several Grand fathers to 1776, and beyond, can anyone offer any further help? Wm married a Elizabeth Rawson by licence in Heckinton 1806, in attendance were her father a John Rawson and a John Yarday Gent of Gainsborough, William's brother-in-law of 2 years), and of course his own father William Gent of Heckington who died in 1827. Wm had 5 other sisters all married and lived in or around Linconshire. There married names were Freeman, Caswell, Crowson, Cherrington, and a Millner.
