My great grandfather John White came to South Africa +-1865. He brought his wife Margaret (nee OÇonnell) and their 5 year old daughter Johanna Jane Francis White with them. Margaret OÇonnell was born in Caherconlish in 1841. John White and Margaret OÇonnell were married in St Michael's Church, Limerick on 01/03/1859. In St John's Cathedral, Limerick, I have found that a John White was baptised on 21/01/1836. This could be my gg grandfather but I need further proof. This John White's parents were Michael White and Mary Hayes. I have also found siblings of this John White viz. James bap 21/07/1833, Michael bap 05/12/1839 and Catherine bap 14/06/1842 all baptised in St John's. If there is anyone related to this family living in Limerick or elsewhere, I would love to hear from you. Kevin.

red mail Hurley
Patrick Hurley married Honora Bourke on 10/10/1856 in St. Michael's RC Church in Limerick, Ireland. He and his wife both died in late 1899. Their ages were given as 68 and 69 years respectively. Thus they were born around 1831/32 but one has to allow for peoples memories of their ages at that time. Patrick was a Corn Merchant in Limerick City around the 1850's and beyond and the business was continued by his sons Patrick (b 1862) and John (b 1859). I would like to know where Patrick (Senior) was born. I am not sure if he was born in the county or city of Limerick. The date of birth could be anything from c 1819 to 1832 I suspect. The first Census we have is 1901 so there is nothing to go on from that line.
