I am researching the ancestry of my Grandfather Patrick Moran, who was born c.1876 in Co Leitrim, possibly Drumshanbo or Aghagrania. He left Ireland with Peter Conlon and they both trained as stonemasons in Scotland. He changed his name to Peter before settling in Middlesbrough, Yorkshire and marrying Ethel Dennis in 1902, They had seven children, two still live in Yorkshire and one in Canada. He died as the result of an accident at work in 1934. I know lots about his life in England but, sadly, nothing at all of his Irish parents or siblings.

My gg grandparents were Martin CASSIDY and Mattie (Martha) DIMOND. Mattie was born in Gortermone in 1808, her parents John & Isabella, but by 1850 this entire family had gone from Leitrim. Where did they go? Martin & Mattie's daughter Mary Ann emigrated to Australia and married Paul WILSON from Dalkeith in Scotland. The local rumour is that the area was badly hit by the Great Wind of 1837 and many famiies moved away. I would love any information on these families.

Seeking info re Robert Stoddart, b abt 1783 and his wife Jane Parsons, b abt 1788. Son Joseph (first of 11 children) born in Carrigallen Parish in 1798. Family migrated to Canada around 1819-1820, possibly via Scotland. Daughter Esther Stoddart (my GG grandmother) born near Brockville, Upper Canada, in 1820. Another possible child, John, born in Brockville in 1825. Family settled in Lanark Township, Lanark County, Upper Canada. Robert died in 1828. Widow Jane Stoddart remarried in 1836 to William Henry. Anyone have Stoddart/Stoddard connections in Co. Leitrim -- Carrigallen area in particular?

My Great-Grandfather - Thomas Cosgrove left Ireland in the 1890's and moved to Kirkintilloch in Scotland where he married Mary Ann Leslie (her parents were also from Ireland - Luke Leslie from Longford and Cecilia Griffen from Donegal). His parents were Michael Cosgrove and Mary Killalee who were married at Taunagh Sligo in 1870 and he had a brother called Patrick. Thomas had a large family and his second son Patrick was my Grandfather who moved to London. If you think you may be related to Thomas and therefore to me I'd love to hear from you.

He emigrated to Canada in 1904 with Pat Young's son George.

Looking for any trace of Michael Doyle, maybe born in North Leitrim about 1908, later worked on the Cavan and Leitrim narrow gauge railway at Dromod - probably in the late1920's or early 1930's. He then left for England, had various jobs, and ended his working life as a railwayman on Rugby station. I think they may well have returned to Ireland after the death of their parents. Martha Flynn died 23 Dec 1934 at 6 Wedderburn Terrace Inveresk - Former Poorhouse - After 1930, the poorhouse became Inveresk Institution.

I am searching for relatives of my grandfather, Farrell F. Moran. Born in Aghagrania, County Leitrim in 1868. He came to Massachusetts some time in the late 1880's and settled in Lawrence, MA. He had two sisters who arrived before him named Annie and Ellen. There were also many more brothers and sisters. Bridget? John? Patrick? I believe his father's name was John. The Moran family were associated with the of the Parish of Kiltoghert.

James Gilchrist (born 1841 approx) son of Michael Gilchrist and Mary Dolan moved to Ayrshire as a teenager (perhaps as both parents died while he was still young). He am speculating that he was living with his uncle Barnard Gilchrist in Dumfries in the 1851 Scottish Census. He was living with his aunt Ellen/Elenor/Helen McKeon (nee Gilchrist) in Ayrshire in the 1861 census. Anyone out there have any info on Bernard (Barney) born 1872 and Thomas born 1867(McKeon). Seven children in the family - the parents names were Pat Mckeon mothers maiden name was Mary Murray. I've been told they immigrated to Australia about 1900 and were never heard from again. Could this be true? I'd really like to know. My great-grandmother, Anne McGowan, born 16 June, 1856 at Corracloona, Kiltyclogher, Co. Leitrum to Owen McGowan and Horora McMurray. Anne Mc Gowan married "Red" John Dolan on 10 January 1882 at Kiltyclogher RC Chapel, Co. Leitrum. Co-incidently John Dolan was born on the same day not far away on the Dolan farm at Drumkeenagh, Co. Fermanagh to Donal/Daniel Dolan and Rose Keaney. It is said that the same midwife helped deliver both babies. John Dolan and Anne McGowan raised 8 children at Drumkeenagh. Anne died in 1932 and John died in 1946,

Looking for relatives of my great grandmother, Elizabeth Feely, who was born in Kinlough, Leitrim, Ireland, in 1853. Her parents were Dennis Feely, farmer, and Honorah Clancy. Denis was son of Thomas Feely (born around 1790), Knockenroe townland (three miles east of Kinlough village) and was named after his grandfather Denis, who was born around 1760 and also lived in Knockenroe. Denis and Honor lived in the house in Kinlough village all of their lives, farmed the land at Ballymore and had a family of 12 children Joseph, Elizabeth, Thomas (dd), James, Thomas (dd), Sarah, Pat (>US), Tom, Catherine, Mary, Honor, Roseanne. Elizabeth emigrated from Ireland to Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, in 1878 aboard the Noronshire. She married John James Dodsworth in Brisbane in 1880, had two children, Mary Sarah Letitia Dodsworth, in 1881 (Rockhampton) and Catherine Ann Dodsworth, in 1884 (Brisbane, died young). Elizabeth died in 1884 in Brisbane. One contact from this site- Tom Feely with family chart available for any other relatives extant.
