My gg grandfather, Thomas Berry Cleveland married Millicent Ross in Leicester in 1834. One of her forebears established the first blanket factory in Leicester (Ross Walk is named after him). A conversation with a 94 year young lady, took us along the Overton Road Leicester, when she went dancing in her younger years. She spoke of a place called 'Care Hardy' this is how she pronounced it so it is question marked to the name and spelling. It got me thinking as there was a Hall along the Overton Road that was hired out, a friend of mine remembers the Wi's playing domino's there every sunday..could this be the same place? I know she moved down to Brentford, Middx and then to Twickenham, Middx (but I dont know which years) and she had 5 children, Ted/Albert/Frank/Marie & Eric. Am looking for help on my Breward UK ancestory. Information gleened so far shows them coming from Hinckley, Blaby & Leicester. It is known they owned their own shoe business but the exact location of the business is not known. We have traced back into the early 1800's & found William Breward of Barwell & his wife Sarah Sleath of Hinckley. They had five children... Charles William, George, Henry, William(Willie) & Annie. We have no information on any of the children except for Charles William. Charles William married Elizabeth Sophia Adcock. Elizabeth Sophia's parents were Henry Adcock & Sophia Bellamy. Elizabeth & Charles had 4 children... Charles Ernest, Horace Ernest, John(Jack) & Annie Sophia. Charles Ernest married Ada Needham & had 4 children ... Chas.Wm.(Billie), Frederick Sidney, Harold Wilfred, Albert(Bertie). Horace Ernest married & it is believed he had two male children, possibly named Walter & Ernest. John(Jack) married Alice Annie Herbert & immigrated to Canada. They had four children... Charles, Norman, Allan & Marjorie. Not much is known about Annie Sophia other than her date of death in 1905. I would be pleased to hear from anyone having information regarding this family. I would also appreciate any cemetary information from those of you who frequent the local ones & come across the name. Some of the Brewards are buried in the Cosby Cemetary & I have a list of names with dates.

Hi I am searching for Charles Topham's Family and his Birth. I know his mothers name was Anne Topham and that charles was born around 1836 leicester Leicestershire,I have had no success in tracing his family as yet. I would be intreseted in findinghis parents and any siblings. Charles married one Anne Sutton around 1869/70 and their first born son was born in june 1870. They were listed as living at 5 Alfred st on the 1881 census. Tracing George Henry Beck from Loughborough 1850. Wife Emma (Harrison) having 7 children, including my great grandfather William George Beck who died in battle, France during the first World War. He moved to Leicester and marriade Beatrice Howe, certificate shows them living ar Dorset St. Sept. 1900. Though, 1901 census shows them living with the mother-in-law on Friday Street, Anne Howe, formally Mappin, shopkeeper grocers working at home, which suggests to me that the family turned the front room into a shop? Any one help? I would be interested to hear from anyone who can help with any information, I am at present interested in the shop. How do I find information about it? Part of the family moved to Australia during the 1970's and are still residing there.
