John Murphy - (Aghaboe, and Parish - County Laois)
Born in Aghaboe, County Laois in 1845 to Thomas Murphy 1815-1905 of Carlow and Bridget Bergin 1826-1908 of Kilkenny. The family emigrated to Perth County, Upper Canada shortly after John was born. The family went on to have 12 more children. I know lots about his descendants and would be happy to share. I'm interested in learning more about his ancestors.

I am looking for any information on a Peter Brennan and any of his family-he had 10 children who lived in Clonaslee. In particular I am interested in one of his daughters Mary Bridget Brennan who married the Earl Of Strathmore in 1958. Mary Bridget was born in June 1922 but I am nor sure where. The family moved out of the area to Naven I think(again not sure of the date) and later moved to Leicester.

Looking for information on John Webb born 1789 and his wife, Mary Cashin. Don't know where John was born but he came to Clonaslee in 1832 to teach at the National School. I think Mary was from the area. Believe all of his children were born in Clonaslee. They are Elizabeth, James, Susan, John, Catherine, Thomas ans Richard. They all immigrated to US in mid 1850s. Elizabeth married in Clonaslee to Richard Kilroe of Kings County. They had a daughter, Susan, born in Clonaslee in 1856. Think there may be a possible connection between John Webb and Henry Webb who was the protestant teacher in Clonaslee at the Erasmus School. Also may be a connection with Susan Webb who owned property in Coonaslee. Any leads or info gratly appreciated!

Family information states that James(about 1838-1876) and John Dillon (1845-1917) travelled to the Australian goldfields in 1862, Visited New Zealand , then returned to southern NZ from Australia in about 1867-68. I would like to find out who their parents were and any other siblings .There are so many Dillons. Griffiths Valuation info says there was a John and a Thomas in the Courtwood area; also Anne and Eliza. Any help would be most appreciated .

I'm looking for family of Elizabeth/Bessy Dunne who married Peter Brennan in Doonane in 1867. On the marriage certificate her father's name is given as Patrick Dunne. On the Griffiths Valuation Index there is a Patrick Dunne listed for this townland, paying taxes from 1848-1864. Also on the marriage certificate there is a Thomas and a Mary Dunne, appearing as witnesses. Could anyone who recognizes these names please get in touch. Many thanks, Petra

Looking for information on Mercier family. David Mercier had a mill in Durrow. Also a business in Abbeyleix. He lived at Erkin Lodge Durrow at time of his death in 1860s.He had at least 9 children, one son, maybe more, established business in Belfast. Were Methodist, Church of Ireland family. First wife was Catherine Dobbs of Abbeyleix, second Caroline Turpin from Dublin. (Her mother was Ann Maurice of Oakhill, Abbeyleix.)Eldest daughter, Jane, married John McMahon in Abbeyleix RC church in 1854, second daughter was probably the Emma Bailey buried in Oakvale cemetery , Stradbally.

William Freeman and Johanna Rice, Sons- John, died in Chicago Samuel and Marys family, was Isabella, William, Selena, Henry and Samuel Samuel worked as a "Miller" in a Flour Factory. Died in Queens Countyty They lived in the town Graigue. Baptised in Killeshin. Thomas also a "Miller". immigrated to Chicago 1888 died in Chicago 1930. Graigue is located in Queens County, 1/2 mile from County Carlow and about 5 miles from County Kilkenny.

I believe Margaret Nelson was born in Killeshin in around 1857. She later moved to Somerset, England & in 1882 married Austin SHORNEY a cabinet-maker from Cannington, Somerset. They had one son Charles Joseph Shorney (b.1889) who unfortunately perished on the SS Titanic in 1912. At some point around the early 1900s the family moved to Heron's Ghyll, High Hurstwood, Uckfield, East Sussex. Margaret sadly died in 1905 in Uckfield Hospital when Charles was only 15. I would really like to find out more about Margaret & her side of the family in Ireland, any info would be gladly welcomed.

The parents of these families were James Hemphill and his wife Mary Russell. At his son Roberts marriage to Mary Hamilton, James was noted as a farmer from Laught,on the certificate. Robert and his family, James Jr and his family with wife Violet Hamilton a cousin of Mary Hamilton, and Johnstone all came to Australia. I know Wallace went to the USA as our Robert visited him there. I also think that Mary and Joseph also went to America. I have been told another cousin Curtis Hemphill also came to Australia. Martin Redmond married Mary Higgins in 1864 in Stradbally, Co. Laois. They had 7 children; Kate, Mary Anne, Michael, Elizabeth, John, Margaret and Patrick. Prior to their marriage no records have been found identifying their parentage, or place of birth, however church records show 4 possibilities for Martin's parentage and 5 for Mary's.
