Looking for information regarding Walter Warren and his wife Annie (Nan). They lived in Knott End and also owned a caravan there which I assume they let out to holidaymakers. He and his wife were originally from Walkden. She had owned a confectionary shop during the 2nd World War in Farnworth. red mail Cronshaw /Dean Line - (Knuzden Brook - Lancashire)
I have come to a full stop on this one. Joseph Cronshaw Dean b 1900 in Accrington married Martha Davies on 20th April, 1921, in Knuzden. I have been unable to find any record of this in Lancs (only record is on Joseph Deans RAF file which states the date of marriage and name of wife and the fact that the certificate had been verified). I do not live in the Lancs area and have in fact never been there but would be grateful if someone could give me the names of any churches in Knuzden (even ones that have fallen down) and any information about this couple. I believe they had a son who just may have been Joseph J Dean (not sure) born in 1922. I would be extremely grateful for any information which would enable me to track down the wedding certificate. Also, would Knuzden have come under the Haslingden registration district in 1921? Anyone related to them making contact would be a bonus!
red mail Cronshaw/Dean Line - (Knuzden Brook - Lancashire)
See previous entry. I now have the marriage certificate for Joseph Cronshaw Dean and Martha Davies - they married in Knuzden (St. Oswald's Church) on 20.4.1921. Pre-marriage the couple lived at 7 Spread Eagle Street, Oswaldtwistle and 5 Spread Eagle Street, Oswaldtwistle. I would be delighted to hear from anyone who has knowledge of any descendants of these families, living or dead - in particular of their son Joseph J Dean b 1922 in Blackburn registration district, who may have married and there may be family in the area. Joseph J Dean appears to have died in Blackburn registration district in 1996.

red mail Rose & Crown Pub & Topping Family - (Much Hoole - Lancashire)
My husband's Great Great Grandparents Nicholas and Frances Topping (nee Taylor) lived at the Rose and Crown at Much Hoole during the late 1800's. As well as being the publican Nicholas was also a farmer of a few acres. I have searched the web for a photo of the old pub but none are available. It is now an Indian restaurant and has been modernised. Does anyone know of the whereabouts of a picture of the old Rose and Crown? Albert Pierepoint the hangman was a later owner of the pub. Patricia
