Jonathan ASHWORTH, my 4x GGrandfather, married Ellen WILKINSON at Padiham on 14 March 1808. Ellen was the daughter of James WILKINSON of Padiham. I'm struggling to find the right James from no. 5 recorded in the Parish Register of St. Leonard. Unfortunately WILKINSON is a very common name in the Padiham area. Has anyone out there been able to sort them out?

(update: thanks to CF member who sent FreeBMD search results -- I am leaving this post in place in case anyone else has information to offer.) Seen on passenger list for Cedric departing Liverpool 26 Nov 1910, arriving New York 5 Dec 1910: Richard Holden, weaver, age 28, born in Bolton, son of Mary Ann Holden, 18 Bank St, Padiham, and wife Edith, age 25, on route to Holyoke, Massachusetts -- closest relative is brother-in-law Frederick (last name isn't clear) residing at 7 Essex Street. Looking for more information about his family, and a marriage record or other information that would confirm Edith's maiden name. Other evidence suggests this couple may have married between Nov 1904 and Sep 1905, and their marriage may have been annulled in the US in 1914.

I am looking for anyone who is researching Jame Ingham born 1810-11 with wife Elizabeth. my Great grandfather James Ingham(his son) born 1852 in or around Burnley, Pahiham, Lancashire immigrated to Canada in 1870. I have found him with his father James Ingham and all the same siblings, mother Elizabeth but the last names for Elizabeth differs (Helm and Taylor Smith) also a Betty. Had 8 children -Theophilus c1893, Lily c1895, Handel c1897, Arthur c1899, Dinah c1900, Louis c1900, Edna c1907 and my grandmother Victoria c1903. The family lived in Padiham and I am very interested in finding other members of this family.
Researching family of John FAY and Annie WHALLEY who married 1889 in Blackburn.They had children Robert b1890,Henry b1891,John b1895 in Padiham,Burnley and then Thomas b1900 in Blackburn. In 1901 census they are living with John's mother Sarah FAY (nee Deasy)55 widow of Matthew FAY, but I cannot trace the death of Matthew. Sarah DEASY and Matthew FAY married in 1870. Believe Sarah (b c1846) and her mother Mary DEASY (b c1813) were born in Ireland.

Seen on passenger list for SS Cymric, departing Liverpool on 29 Sep 1905 for Boston (arriving 08 Oct 1905): Millicent Holden, Weaver, resident of Padiham Lancs. destination Holyoke (Hampden County), Massachusetts, USA, going to join her brother Richard Holden residing at 290 High Street. I am looking for any other information about these siblings in the UK. Millicent's age is transcribed by Ancestry as 56, but the manifest has checkmarks -- her age may be 26, which would make her birth about 1879. Other evidence suggests Richard may have married earlier in the same year, but I cannot find any evidence of the marriage itself. Also traveling to join Mrs. and Mrs. Holden is Frederick Gilbert Knowles aged 18 yrs. 5 months, a resident of Slapton, Devonshire. Does anyone recognize this family?

Robert's father was Thomas Thompson b.1802 Padiham he married Grace ? and his second wife was Nancy Warren c.1806. Thomas Thompson's father was Henry Thompson b.1764 Padiham. He married Jane Riley b.1762. Henry Thompson's parents were Henry Thompson b.1733 Padiham and Janet Hartley b. 1736. Henry Thompson's parents were Nicholas Thompson b.1700 Padiham and Ann ?. Any information about the above family would be great.

I'm looking for any information about my grandfather Edward ("Teddy") Hughes, 1923 - 1985, and his parents, John Hughes and his wife Catherine, nee Connell. John and Catherine came to Burnley/Padiham from Attymass, Ballina, Co Mayo in the Irish Republic. They had 5 children, Edward, Patrick, John, Ellen and James. Catherine died in April 1935 of double pneumonia, aged only 38. John was killed in April 1950 when he was hit by a light engine whilst working on the line at Hapton. Teddy married a London girl, Kathleen Westley, and they had a daughter, Catherine, in 1946, but the marriage did not last. Catherine never saw her dad again and was told he'd died in 1953 in the Korean War. In fact he lived until 1985, when he died in Nottingham. Teddy's sister Ellen married a Mr Kelly and had two daughters Teresa and Eileen. She died in 1996 in Padiham. We would love to hear from anyone who knows anything at all about my grandfather's relatives - anyone who remembers them, or has ever met them, just to tell us what they were like. It's been very sad for my mum not having known her dad or his family.
