I am attempting to locate any information on my grandfather, Walter Webster. My mother was born to Walter Webster and Margaret Cooper with the address of 11 Talbot Terrace, Lytham, Lancashire, England given on her birth registration. She was born December 24, 1920. She never knew her father and he was never mentioned in family conversation. My grandmother Margaret Cooper was born in 1890 and I assume Walter was around the same time. red mail Blackburn or Ormerods Children's Home
Any information on an orphanage inÊLythamÊSt Annes, Lancashire. It was supposedly called 'Blackburn Children's Home', but is also known as 'Ormerods children's home'. It wasÊerected in 1914, and is registered as a 'Blackburn and District Convalescent Home for Adults' in 1924, run by the matron Miss M Halliwell. I do not know exactlyÊwhen it was turned into a children's home, but I know for a fact that it was aÊfunctional children's home in the 70's/80's. The building is now derelict behind NewThursby Nursing home, 604 Clifton Drive North, Lytham St Annes, Lancashire, FY8 2RN. It seems strange to me that there is no record of this place even existing past 1924, and I really need some background history on this building for myÊphotography and filmÊproject. Is there is anyone that could help me, or anyone I can contact who would have information on this building.
