I am seeking information or photographs of Brown's Building in Dob Lane/Oldham Road, Failsworth, Lancashire. Dr Peter Brown, surgeon and apothecary owned the property at 69 Dob Lane, from the late 1820's. He lived in the lower corner shop, where he prescribed and dispensed, and in March, 1859, the Failsworth Industrial Society opened its first shop in the building. Dr Brown's son, William was a dentist who had a practice there. The 1891 census has the building listed at 69 Oldham Road, and William's widow, Sarah Speakman was living there with her second husband. In 1901 she was in Blackpool, so I don't know when she'd sold the building. Who occupied the building from the early 1900's?

red mail Andrew Family 17-18-1900's (Revised Mar 07)
I'm looking for information regarding Moses and John Andrew (Brothers) who were born in Brymbo, Wrexham, but moved to Chadderton, Lancahire in 1840. (Their father was William Andrew, from Brymbo, who may have had family in or around Oldham.) Both were miners and may have had existing family in Chadderton. I have a good history after 1840, but nothing before. John, (my GGGG/F) was born in 1817, married to Mary Vaughan from St. Asaph and had a son, William, born in Brymbo in 1839. They lived in Cow Hill and then Hole Bottom (now Wickentree Lane), Failsworth, amongst other places. Eventually the family grew and by 1900, my branch of the family were living in Pendlebury and later Swinton, Manchester. Any information regarding their parents, children or other family, possibly still in the Oldham area, would be welcome. Later offspring lived in the Walkden, Tyldesley and Newton Heath areas. There is also a road called Andrew Close in Failsworth, which I believe was named after the farmer who originally owned the land. This could be a possible connection. There was a more affluent Andrew family in Harpurhey around the same time which could possibly be connected. The Andrew family was also connected by marrage, to the Bolton family, originally from Prescot, but later in Walkden.
