red mail Scholes Family
My GG G'father Richard SCHOLES born 1808 Crumpsall, Lancashire, married Mary GOODIER - 1840, Manchester, migrated to Australia between 1852 and 1859. I cannot find any record of his and his family's migration to Australia. Does anyone out there know of this SCHOLES family. He came to Australia with 6 children, Richard b. 1841; Emma b. 1844; Oswald b.1846; Faithful b. 1849; Diana b. 1850; Isaac b. 1852. Two more children were born in Paddington, NSW, Australia John b. 1858 and Mary b. 1861. I do not know of any history of the family before Richard. If anyone has any previous info I can work back with, I would be delighted to receive it. Thanks. Jenny

red mail Horrocks / Knowles
I am researching my Paternal grandmother who was born in Crumpsall (just outside Blackley) Her father was William Horrocks born in 1859 in Blackley and her mother was, I believe, Margaret Knowles born around 1862 in Crumpsall. They had another daughter, Maggie who was born a year after my grandmother (Charlotte Horrocks B 1892) If I'm correct in assuming that her mother was Margaret Knowles, then Margaret's father ran a pub called the Waterloo Inn (Waterloo Street, Crumpsall) Any info, particulalry who William Horrock's father was, would be extremely helpful...
