Is there anyone in the Clitheroe area who remembers Ronald Curnock. He was born in 1914, in Paddington London. He died in Clitheroe in 1987. I do not know when he went to Clitheroe, he was in London till at least 1939. Could be anytime after that. He worked as a labourer, trade not known, but had been a railway porter in London. He was not married, and seemed to be estranged from the rest of the family.

Hi. I am new to the site. I am looking for the grave of peter mitchell . died 17th May 1897. In clitheroe lancashire. He was a peddler.born bolton 1831. He left a wife. Nancy. I have searched all the cemetery and churches in the area. No luck. Plus lanc opc. And most of the sites on burials. Plus clitheroe council and cemetery services. He must be buried somewhere. As I have mobility problems I cannot get to offices etc. Any help would be wonderful. Yours hopefully rob.

Any information for James Dixon (about 1797-pre1871)married Mary Altrie born about 1800. They married 4.2.1822 in the Parish of Blackburn. Their children were James born 1826, John born 1828, Elizabeth born 1830, William born 1832, Thomas born 1836, Mary born 1841, Jane born 1841, George born 1839, Robert born 1843, Richard born 1845, and my great great Alice (1834-June 1912). Alice married Adam Gillibrand (2.1.1828-March 1906). Their son Walter (2.5.1872 Bury-2.2.1956 Toronto Canada) married Alice Jane Kirkman (12.12.1871 Tottington-14.4.1945 Toronto).

Her mother was Elizabeth (maiden name Taylor , married at St. Peter's, Burnley.) - her father, Henry Noblett, - according to a note in the margin of the register, - had died in Calcutta, India on H.M.service. Nothing is ever heard of Elizabeth or Elizabeth Susannah again. They cannot be found in death or marriage indices. HELP !!

How do i find out who lived in my house. I live in Clitheroe Lancs, the houses are rather old, certainly i would say over 100 years. I am curious as to who lived there, even right back to when they were first built but i do not know how to go about finding out this nformation, can anyone help please.

I have information on William Ramsbottom and his family here in Tasmania. Pictures when they first arrived,the children and more. Government letters and records . The upgrade of the Salmon Ponds Museum at Plenty in Tasmania has prompted me to honor this family and the enourmous contribution they made to the state of Tasmanian and indeed the Southern Hemesphire.Their original home is now the Salmon Ponds Museum of Trout Fishing and it is one of these rooms we intend to utilize to honor the family. He was my great-grandfather, b. 1811 in Downham, Lancs., m. ca. 1833 (probably in Rawtenstall) to Grace Greenwood b. ca. 1813 in Heptonstall, Yorks. They lived in Rawtenstall before he became a mill manager in Bacup ca. 1845 and were buried together with Grace's unmarried sister Mary Greenwood in Longholme Methodist Churchyard. FLACK David Rivet Flack was born in Garboldisham, Norfolk in 1850 and died in Clitheroe, Lancashire in 1907. He married in Ireland and his first child was born there. He married Anne Browne eldest son's name was Robert James Browne Flack. All the other of his 12 children were born in Clitheroe I believe. Anne Browne Flack, Elizabeth Maud Flack, David Flack,Wiliam Herbert Flack, David John Flack, Edward Caudwell Flack, Nellie Flack,Helen Victoria Flack, Charlotte Flack, Horatio Nelson Flack (called Henry I believe) and Arthur Wellsley Wellington Flack. I am looking for information on Elizabeth Catlow family and the Ramsbottom family. Elizabeth's parents were born in 1797 and 1799. I don't have their names. She married William Ramsbottom Sept 10,1857 in the Independent Chapel, Clitheroe. She was 24 and William was 25. They traveled to Tasmania with salmon roe to start hatcheries there. The following children were born in Tasmania. Children: Jane Ann Ramsbottom(12/1859-12/24/1889), Robert Ramsbottom(6/11/1864), Henry James Ramsbottom(11/27/1865), Elizabeth Ramsbottom(1/29/1867-8/10/1925), Anne Isabelle Catlow Ramsbottom(12/5/1868) William died of T.B.. In Tasmania. Elizabeth returned to Clitheroe and raised her 3 surviving children there. She purchased a row of stone cottages near a cotton factory. She supported her children by working in the factory and money from the rentals. Henry James Ramsbottom married Adah Francis Mary Birkett at the Clitheroe Wesleyan Chapel 12/27/1888. They had 9 children. I have their names and birth/death dates. I would like to hear from anyone with information on any family members.

I am researching the Leach and Catterall families of Whalley, Clitheroe, Downham and Waddington. John Leach m Margaret Turner in 1727, his son was Catterall Leach m Elizabeth Briggs in 1768. His Grand daughter m Joseph Harling in 1829 My g.g.grand parents. John Leach's parents were John Leach and Sarah Catterall. There is suposed to be a link with the (in)famous Lancashire Witches somehere in this family, probably with the Catterall branch.
