Researching the Shaw family, who we believed were Londoners. In 1911 George Arthur Shaw and his wife Emily were in Battersea but the census shows George's birthplace as Chorlton upon Medlock. His wife was born in Shoreditch- all the children were born in London. We would like any information about this family, as the surname is common and it's easy to 'adopt' the wrong family! I'm looking for relatives of Ernest Williams b. abt 1893 who lived at 15, Nuttall St, Chorlton on Medlock in 1938. He was my GG/M Louisa Blundell's, son from her first marriage to Thomas Walter Williams. They also had a Daughter, Sarah Jane Williams b.1889 in Northwich. Ernest was in attendance at the death of Louisa in 1938. Although she lived at 15, Newton St, Chorlton on Medlock, she died at 20, Nell Lane, Withington. Was this a nursing home? Louisa was born Louisa Sandbach in Northwich in 1865 She married Thomas Walter Williams in Northwich in 1888 and they had Sarah Jane in Northwich then must have moved to Manchester. I would appreciate any help at all as this side of the family is proving to be very hard to trace.

Ellen Hadfield nee Treece could have been living with her husband William in Chorlton in the 1920s. I believe that William died there in 1924 but I have been unable to find a death for Ellen. Can anybody help me with this? They were my husband's great granparents.

Looking for Robert, Wyn (Winifred?)or Ruth Bell. My mother, Gladys Shaw, lived with them in the late 1940's when she was a trainee nurse. She called them Uncle Bob and Auntie Wyn, but I don't know if they were actually related. The daughter, Ruth, was about 8 or 9 at the time, so may still be in the area. Robert Bell may have lived in Chorlton on Medlock (Hulme) when he was young and they may have moved to Benchill or Sharston in the 1940's. Any help would be appreciated.

looking for information on Sarah Buckley born 1908 possibly in Ireland. Father John Buckley. She married Herbert Johnson in 1932 in Manchester. They lived in and around Chorlton & Longsight area of manchester. They had 3 children George, Maureen & Josie. The children were put in to Hollymount Convent in Tottington, Bury in 1940 but we do not know why. Herbert was killed in Manchester by a lorry in 1941 this was after the children were put into the convent. They lived in Dover Street, Atherton Grove and Herberts last address was 2 Francis St Manchester. Sarah resided at 45 Upper Brook St Chorlton on Medlock before she married.
Harry Tomlinson COPPOCK born in 1854 married Rosa Sophia GEORGE (a.k.a Rosa Sophia CROSS) in 1885 in Salford. They had at least 1 son, Herbert Stewart COPPOCK born in 1886 in Chorlton all the family appear in the 1901 Census living in Withington. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
