red mail PHILLIPS and OLD
Interested in finding out more about Francis Patrick PHILLIPS and Cecilia May OLD who were married in Middlesbrough in spring or early summer 1903. Patrick was born in Cork, Ireland c1875, the third son of James PHILLIPS by his first wife Jane nee BARNES and served for about 12 years in the Hampshire Regiment, mostly overseas in the West Indies and briefly in South Africa. He left the army on 31 January 1903, having been a bandsman for much of his period of service. In the 1911 census they are living at 50 Gibraltar Street in Bolton, but had no children. Francis was described as a music hall musician. Cecilia died at 16 Rebate Street in Bolton on 12 May 1956 and her death certificate shows her as the wife (not the widow) of Francis Phillips, a professional musician, so he was presumably alive at this date. Her death was registered by an M Higson who was present at the death. Did this couple leave any descendants? Does anyone have any information on them between 1911 and 1956?
