I am searching for the birth details of my gt grandmother ALICE Webster so that I can research my gt gt grandparents. I know from her marriage and death certificates that she was born around 1870 in the Manchester area. This is a 'needle in a haystack ' research which I have been doing for a few years but I am interested in an Alice Webster born in 1869 in CHEWBENT ( sometimes called just Bent). If anyone recognises this lady from their own family tree I would very much appreciate any extra information on her, that might help me to either pursue her or to delete her from my research. I do know that in 1898 she gave birth to my grandfather Herbert Webster but no father is mentioned on his birth certificate. She later married in 1904 to a Frank Kawan. Many Thanks.

Has anybody ever heard of a woman organising the murder of her husband in Atherton? The man may have been William Nickson born 1846 in Norley Cheshire. He lived in Atherton in 1881 but I can find no trace of him after this time. He was a shoe maker - any information would be appreciated.
red mail The mysteries of Henry Cowburn
I am looking for details on the birth and marriages of Henry Cowburn, born in Atherton c1835. I know that he married Ann (possibly but not deffinitely Smith) and had 5 children: Ellen, Martha, James, Alice, Louisa. I am very confused about his birth which may have been illigitimate? I have found a birth matching his profile listed as born to 'single woman' Ellen Cowburn. However, on the 1851 census he is living as 'son' to John and Alice Cowburn. Also, I think that he later remarried Grace Roper (also known as Whittle and Lucas at different times due to previous marriages). Any help appreciated - I'm stuck!
