I have traced my great-grandparents arrival to the US in 1880, but am getting lost in a sea of "Annas" "Elizabeths" and "Johns" searching beyond that point. My ggranparents were Alexander (Mar 1851 Barony, Lanark) and Elizabeth (1855). Alexander's father was John Barrie (1813, Old Monkland, Lanark) and his wife was Elizabeth (1821). The latter John's parents may have been John and Agnes Laing, but I cannot confirm this. My ggrandfather may have had a brother named William who immigrated in 1880 as well. The family settled in Conneticut. I would be interested in any information (especially photos!) and would be glad to share the same. Kindest regards.
