red mail Armit family Newmains
I would love to hear from anyone interested in the numerous Armit families who lived and worked in Newmains at the Coltness Iron Works. They came from Ballingry in Fife from the 1860s onwards and by 1900 there were several large families of Armits living in the area. They were mostly blast furnacemen or miners and though many have now left the area some families still remain. I would be pleased to hear from anyone with an interest. Regards, Heather.
