Holden Turner (Born 4 Nov 1760, Glasgow)left Lanarkshire to join the British Infantry during the week of 21 Oct, 1778. He mustered out on 20 Nov 1783 at Halifax, Nova Scotia and spent the rest of his life in New Brunswick, Canada. He married Jennet Hutchinson in 1784 there. She was also from Scotland. Holden's father was Robert Turner born in Lanark, on 10 Feb 1717 . He married Janet Boyd on 22 Apr 1750 in Glasgow. Robert and Janet had at least 5 children: William, Janet, Hugh, Holden and Robert between 1751 and 1763, all born in Glasgow. Janet Boyd was born on 13 Dec 1730 in Monkland, Lanarkshire, the daughter of William Boyd and Elizabeth Walker. William Boyd was born on 22 May 1696 in Monkland and married Elizabeth on 16 March 1725 there. Janet had a brother John Boyd born 21 may 1727 in New Monkland. Robert Turner, father of Holden, had as parents: John Turner(b 27 Dec 1692, Lanark) and Margaret Alexander also of Lanarkshire. They married on 16 may 1723 in Lanark. John Turner's parents were John Turner christened on 18 Sep 1673 in Glasgow, married on 15 Mar 1691 in Lanark: Margaret Wickershaw (sp?). This John Turner was son of Robert Turner and Agnes Anderson. Of course I would be interested in any more information or in hearing from anyone related to these people.

I am trying to trace the family of Agnes and Robert (her brother)Cameron who went to USA about 1868. I know their parents were Daniel Cameron 1801-1869 and Agnes Stewart 1800-1845 but I keep coming up with two with close marriage dates and cant get far enough to follow the right line. I have a letter written by Robert's daughter in 1896.The letter also mentions Agnes and Robert's Uncle Richard Cameron but I cant fit them into my other family.

William Crosher m Mary McGregor, son John McGregor Crosher b 6/3/1848 - John's brother was Alfred, William Crosher founded Nut and Bolt factory in 1840 I think he was born 1818 where? Mary McGregor born around 1828 where? Many Crosher's worked at the factory as I have no information on William Crosher his brothers and sisters or his father, they were all Engineers. Looking for information about the Weir family that lived along St. Leonards Street at least 1805-1891. 1841 census record shows Margaret King Weir living with youngest son Robert Hamilton Weir at 8 St. Leonards, later on they seemed to have moved down the street. Looking for Curr family info from Lanark. My ancestor, James Curr was married there on Jan 29, 1832 to Janet Somervel (sp?) then sailed on the Silvanus Jenkins to NYC and arrived March 16, 1832. Would like to know if he had any siblings or any other family info on the Currs in Lanark for the US to Scotland connection. James WALLIS/WALLACE had his baptism recorded at the St. Nicholas Parish Church of Lanark, Lanark, SCT on 16DEC1674. Only his father's name, John Wallace, is on the register. Impressed into the Royal Marines, he made his way to Connecticut Colony by 1706. Any help identifying his mother or previous generations would be appreciated by this descendant.

Have been trying to find information about our family history on my Mother's side. Her father's name was John Gregg born 1916 possibly Motherwell or Glasgow. Unconfirmed information that he played for Motherwell FC sometime before he married in 1945 (Lancashire). His father's name on his marriage certificate was listed as Thomas Calder Gregg (not sure about the Calder part) and is listed as a retired collier worker. Alexander Thomson was a professor of theology at the University of Edinburgh; I have not yet established where he was born, and that is part of my purpose for posting. He married Emma Jane East (b 1819, Birmingham) and they had 5 children: Emma Morell Mackenzie Thomson b 1844, William Alexander East Thomson 1845, Emily Gertrude Thomson 1845, Ann Baldwin Thomson 1848-1932 (my great grandmother), and Helen L (Nellie) Thomson. At the time of the 1881 census, he was living in Chorlton on Medlock, Lancashire. I would like any information at all on Alexander and his son William. Emma and William are shown as being born in Barony, Lanark. Emma, Emily, and Nellie had no children--Ann was the only sister who did, and she died young. Any descendantsof William out there?
