I am looking for a contact for decendents of Alexander & Margaret(Blair) Barclay. I have a photo which I believe may be of them. It was taken in Glasgow in the 1800's. Their son Alexander move to Munising Michigan, United States around 1872, and Homesteaded from 1874 till his death in 1915, a cranberry farm in Whitefish Point. Alexander is my Great Grandfather. The photo was in my grandmothers photo album. My other grand parents where of American decent, so being the photo stock was for Glasgow, I surmize it may be Alexanders parents. Hello. CHARLES SMITH DONALD, born Glasgow on 24/12/1855. Son of ALEXANDER DONALD and MARJORY SMITH. Occupation was Baptist Minister. 1891 census shows Charles and his wife AGNES living in Govan, Glasgow. I can find no trace of Charles in Scotland or England in 1901 census; family knowledge states he visited his relatives in Co Durham, England some time in late 1930's or early 1940's. He is reported to have lived in Antrimville Manse, Belfast, N Ireland at some time but dates not known. Does anyone know where Charles and Agnes were from 1901 onwards and does anyone have any pictures or information on Antrimville Manse. Any information greatly appreciated. Thank you

Hello. I am looking for any information concerning ALEXANDER BEATTIE DONALD, born c1826 Aberdeen. Son of JAMES DONALD and ELIZABETH BEATTIE who were married at Dunnottar on 5/11/1808. Alexander married MARJORY SMITH at Stonehaven on 19/10/1846 and at the time of the marriage Alexander was a letter carrier in Aberdeen. The 1851 census shows Alexander to be a school master aged 25 living in School House, Lochlee, Angus with his wife and family. In the 1861 census Marjory Donald (Alexander's wife) and family are living at Govan, Glasgow and Marjory is shown as "Head of House" as Alexander is not there. I have Alexander's date of death as 18/11/1864 at Glasgow where he was a customs officer. I can find no trace of Alexander in Scottish or English census for 1861. Can anyone please help me find him? He founded the well-known firm David & John Anderson, fine dress fabrics & shirtings. Two sons & grandson David Blyth Anderson ran the business later. 9 children. 8) Richard Blyth 1801 - ? Shoemaker in Edinburgh (1828) & London (1833). 9) John Blyth 1803 died infant. 10) John Swanston Blyth 1804-1847, muslin manufacturer, Glasgow. m. Elizabeth Oswald Lethem 1809-1876, daughter of Patrick Lethem & Mary Waddell, Glasgow. I am still trying to find out the parents of James Blyth. Possibly descended from a John Blyth, a cordiner in Leith then Glasgow, who married in 1696 and had 7 children. There were a lot of other Blyths who were shoemakers in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Fife, Kinross, Perthshire, etc.

I am trying to find information on my great great grandfather, Alexander Fraser THOMSON, born in July 1841 in New Deer. We believe there is a connection with Glasgow. He may have been a constable there at one time. His death is a bit of a mystery and I am trying to find when he died and where he is buried. He married Henrietta Martin MCLEAN in 1866 in Edinburgh. At the time of his death he was living in a boarding house owned by a Mrs. MCCORMICK. His family was in America. We believe he died sometime after 1878. Any information would be appreciate.

My 3xGreat grandmother was Isabella Murray. She married Henry White at St Marys Church Reading on 18.2.1827 Their first 2 children Charles and Harriet Matilda(my great great grandmother) were born in Reading and then the family moved to the Spitalfields area of London where Mary, Jane and Elizabeth were born. They all worked as Silk handloom weavers. I know Isabella was born in Glasgow in about 1808/9, from information she gave for census between 1851 ans 1881. I do not know whether Isabella was in Reading alone or with her Family, and would love to know more about her and about them too. One of the witnesses at Isabella and Henrys marriage was Mary Murray, who could have been Isabellas mother.Can anyone help me with any information.

I am trying to find Robert JM Wilson and his brothers Harry, and William. Their mothers name is Ann Wilson who died in 1957 at Abington St. The boys at that time were 12, 10, and 8 respectively. I know that Harry married in 1970 to a lady named Ida, in Govan. But have not been able to locate them from there. Looking to trace my 'cousin by adoption' - will be about 60 by now? Was adopted by Martha/Mattie MacMillan, who then married Edward Mullen. Sadly she died back in about 1963 (Don about 16 (?) then - or maybe was older, cannot remember) I think he used to live in London, but that was decades ago. Thomson, Grove
James Thomson, weaver, born c1816-1822 possibly in Ireland, married Mary Grove or Groves in Barony in 1841. They had several children, William Thomson b.c. 1843; John b.c. 1845; Samuel b.c. 1847; and Mary Thomson b. c.1850. I think this is the same James who died in 1858; his parents are given as William Thomson, cotton weaver (deceased) and Mary Thomson MS Robinson. The informant is his brother William. I'd be glad to learn any more about James's parents, siblings or his early life, thanks.

d I am looking for any children of my fathers brothers and sisters. My father, Francis Green, lived in Springburn until the outbreak of WW2. He met and married my mother in the army and settled in Yorkshire. His father and mother were Daniel and Susan Green(nee Cox). Both of his paternal grandparents were from Ireland (Donegal and Fermanagh) and I think that so were his maternal grandparents. His grandfather was Cornelius Green and his grandmother Catherine McDonald. On the other side his grandma was Agnes Monagh and his gradfather Francis Cox. My father was born in about 1914 and had one brother Daniel who emigrated California and several sisters including, I think, Kath, Roseanne, possibly Marie. My grandfather Daniel Green died in 1967 and it seems e was married second time (after Susan died aged about 50) to Sarah Blair/Steele.

On the marriage certificate they are both listed as textile mamufacturers. The address on the certificate was 32 Moray Place, Glasgow. He married Lily Clifford on 11th Nov 1905 in Natland, Westmorland. He was 55 and she was 19. Would love to know more about them.

I am looking for descendants of Felix, James or Patrick Rice who came to Glasgow in about 1890 from Castleblayney, Ireland. Felix was a tram driver and died in 1914 but he had a number of children - Owen (1897), Felix (1898), Maragret (1903), Stephen (1905/6), Patrick, Mary, Sarah, Elizabeth. His wife was called Margaret King. Patrick Rice married Teresa Smith in 1898. Their address is given as 210 South Wellington Street. James married Agnes Jones in 1895 and had at least 3 children, William (1897),Annie (1900) and Felix Alphonsus (1903). Agnes died in 1907 and James then married Mary Carragher in 1910. James' occupation was given as Sewing Machine Superintendent.

My great-grandfather, Alexander Thomas Assafrey, born in Talinn, Estonia in 1845, emigrated to Glasgow, Scotland where he married Rachel Torrance Atkins in 1871 and had 6 daughters: Hilda (married Frank Bamford), Olga (died in infancy), Selma (married John Cowans) , Ruby (married Willi Hartl, then Fielding Herbert Nalder), Vera (married Watson Rodger) and Alma (engaged to Alexander J. Musgrove, drowned in wreck of Empress of Ireland). A master confectioner, A.T. Assafrey opened Scotland's first chocolate factory and also had several successful lunch rooms. I have further information about the family but there are many things I do not know, and so I would like to contact anyone else who is researching the Assafreys.

Looking for the parents of John Wilson born around 1800 in the Glasgow area, John married Amelia Jarrett (born in Kinsale,Ireland) in Manchester 1849. Their fist child Amelia was born here, they then moved to St Helen's where they had three more children, they then moved to Birmingham in 1860 where they stayed. John's father is named as Hugh Wilson on his marriage certificate, both John and Hugh were in the Glass Making trade.
