Annie Crombie Fitzsimmons Beattie married Francis Edward Gallacher in 1934 at St Georges Church Glasgow. I think they had two sons Francis Edward b. 1937 and James Beattie b. 1939....I think that James married Jessie Wright in 1963 but am not sure. I do know that Annie died in 1978 Martha St Glasgow. Annie would have been my Auntie. Her mother and father were James and Isabella and she had 2 brothers Hugh & John and 2 sisters Catherine and Jean. If there is anyone out there with any info on this family I would be very grateful if you would message me..... Any info would be just fantastic Thanks so much Jennifer

red mail James Morris (morrison) Fulcher
Im am trying to find any info on my 3x great grandfather James Morris Fulcher. There is only one record I can find of him, on his sons birth cert, he states that he (james morris fulcher) was born in Lanarkshire, Galsgow, I put the year to be around 1808-1810. I can find absolutely no record of such a birth in Glasgow, or any record even in the entire u.k. The first time he appears anywhere is on his sons birth cert , in Australia in 1864. That same son lists his father on his marriage cert as "James Morrison Fulcher". Both names Morris/Morrison sound more like surnames, and I am curious that "morris fulcher' could be a hyphenated name, and he was perhpas born just James Morris (or Morrison) and Fulcher came later. Maybe through a parent dying, remarrying a Fulcher and adding the name. The only other thing I know about him is he was a bricklayer, and appears on record in australia first in 1864 at the age of about 54. If anyone can shed some light or help in anyway I would be most grateful, Thank you.

red mail Rennie Mary/James Cochrane
My Grandmother was Mary Rennie born in Creetown around 1900. The story I got was that her mother became with child due to an involvment with a gypsy and well, Mary was on her own at 12 in Glasgow. She used to attend the Spooks (spiritualist Church) and claimed to be a medium. I believe her..she was my grandmother. She Married James Cochrane, year unknown. James worked in a foundry and later became a bookie and did very well, having a car and a driver and all. Mary had six children with three surviving. Jean, My mother, her sisters Catherine and Elisabeth. Apparently James was a bit of a ladies man so Mary took her daughters and moved to Toronto Canada. I think Mary's friend Mrs. Mac Hudson came with them. I remember her,she stayed with them for a while, great big woman. My mother said she hads cousins in Austrailia, lifegaurds, and in Canada, soldiers, and in the USA. must have been from her Cochrane/Walker side, of course. Mary and her youngest daughter Catherine were pastors at a Spiritualist Church in South Western Ontario until Mary could no longer keep it up. My aunt Ina still is a pastor there. Did I give too much info here? cheers!

red mail Hugh Cameron's Living Descendants...
Hugh Cameron was born 28 July 1914 in Crookston Street, Gorbals to Robert Cameron and Margaret (nee McCowat). He married a woman named Helen and they had 2 children - Robert (named after Hugh's father) and Helen. I am trying to trace any living relatives (who would be my second cousins), as none of my family has had contact for many, many years. Does anyone know how this can be done without me having to travel to Scotland and go door-to-door? Also, if anyone can help discover a little more about Hugh's wife, Helen, I would be most grateful.
A long shot I know but I just wonder if the name Michael Joseph Nordell might mean anything to anyone. Michael was born in Bray, Co. Wicklow, Ireland in 1880. He lived/worked in Glasgow at some point prior to joining the 4th Bn. Royal Dublin Fusiliers. He died fighting in France in 1916 aged 34. It is possible that some of his siblings also moved to Glasgow and perhaps their decsendants are still living there. Known siblings are John, Charles, Esther, Elizabeth Mary, Mary Theresa and possibly Joseph. Two younger sisters, Annie and Sarah definitely lived and died in Ireland. Parents - Charles and Mary (nee Hill) Nordell.
red mail Henry Croft McLeod, Maryhill, Glasgow
I have started to trace my family history on my father's side and wondered if anybody knew my father? He was born in 1925 and lived in Maryhill. He met my mum Thelma in Yorkshire and both moved back to Glasgow early 1950s. I was born at Oak Bank Hospital in 1953 and we all lived at 49 Rolland Street Glasgow for a while before we all moved to Yorkshire. My dad had quite a few brothers but no sisters. His mum was Annie but I know nothing of his father apart from the fact that he was an upholsterer and died early from cancer. Any info would be much appreciated.
red mail four sons born 1781-1794 to William Forman & Barbara McDougall in Glasgow
I'm searching on the possible half brother of a gggg-grandmother. The best candidate so far is Alexander Meldrum Forman who was born 1794 in Glasgow to William Forman (stocking maker) and Barbara McDougall. William and Barbara had married in Perth in 1781 -- I think it was William's second marriage, and that he'd had at least one daughter previous to that, Jane Forman or Foreman, in Shilbottle, Northumberland. Three other sons were born to William and Barbara in Glasgow: John (1784), Robert (1789) and George (1791). I don't know what happened to them. The family seem to have been weavers and to have lived in a series of weaving towns/communities including Calton, Callander, Barrhead and Neilston. Alexander started out as a weaver but got his medical license in 1820 or so and practiced as a surgeon and chemist thereafter in Glasgow till his death in 1869. He married twice (Anne McIntyre in Calton in 1817, then Catherine McDonald, b. Callander, in Glasgow in 1832). None of his children seem to have survived. He was president of the Swedenborgian church in Glasgow till his death.
The Glasgow German Club circa 1900
My great-grandfather, Alexander Thomas Assafrey (b. Reval, Livonia, Russia - now Talinn, Estonia -, in 1844) joined the Glasgow German Club some time after his arrival in about 1870. He must have spoken Estonian and Russian as well as German (his brother Christian, who remained in Livonia, printed books in all 3 languages), but presumably there were few Estonian or Russian speakers in Glasgow at the time. I assume it was at the German Club that A.T. Assafrey got to know his much younger German-born friend Eugen Schultzen. Does anyone have ancestors who belonged to the German Club? I'd like to know more about it.
Eugen Schultzen
My father Eugène Watson Rodger (b. 1910) was named after Eugen Schultzen, a German Jewish immigrant to Glasgow, who was a friend of his mother's family, the Assafreys. The 1901 census shows Eugen Schultzen living in a boarding house at 7 Abbotsford Place in the Gorbals, and working as a stockbroker's clerk. Subsequently he made a lot of money and was well-known for befriending young men, to whom he was known as Uncle Eugen. I believe he lived in London during the 1930's. When the Second World War broke out, he rashly decided to return to Germany, although he had been naturalized in the early 1900's. As far as I know, he was never seen or heard of again. Can anyone help to fill in the details of this story? Or even explain Uncle Eugen's decision to return to Germany?

My great aunt Ruby Assafrey of West Bank, Partick Hill, Glasgow, was married to William Hartl on the 12th September 1899 at Saffronhall Church, Hamilton. One of the witnesses was Jeanie Gemmell. I believe the Gemmell family, like Ruby's father A. T. Assafrey, were confectioners; but would be interested to have more information about them and the friendship between Jeanie and Ruby.
