red mail Scotland- Cairns Family
I am seeking anyone who may have the following people in their tree or may know of anyone who may be related. Sarah Cairns died May 16th 1925. She was the wife to John Cairns who was an Ironmongers porter. Sarah was the mother to Mary Cairns who was a midwife and had won at least one award for her services. Sarah was the daughter of Gerard Kennedy and Elizabeth Kennedy (ms Kennedy). I am interested to know if Sarah had any other children and if there may have been a link to someone with the name Philomena. My grandmother Nora Rocks was taken into this Cairns family either by adoption or fostered. When she was taken into this family her name was then changed to Norah Maria Cairns, Norah went on to marry a Thomas Stewart. Norah was the witness to Mary's Death on the 12th of March 1943, where she was listed as being Mary's Niece. Mary passed away at 100 Robroyston Road in Glasgow. I have Mary's parents names from her death certificate to be John Cairns (sailmaker) and Sarah Cairns (ms Kennedy) both of whom were deceased at the time of her death. I know that this family all lived at 449 Gallowgate at some point also and hope that this information may sound familiar to someone who is researching this family. Any assistance I can get will be greatly appreciated and I will try to help anyone with what information i have in return.

red mail Robert Burges
My ancestor, Robert Burges was a nailmaker in Calton in the 1820s and 1830s. He married Margaret Marshall in 1826 at Calton. With children, Robert and Duncan, they migrated to Sydney, Australia in 1838 as assisted immigrants. Allegations were made in an 1838 diary that his real name may have been Duncan or Archibald Crawford and he migrated under the alias Robert Burges with Robert Burges' wife.
red mail Johnston
My ancestor Alexander Johnston married Janet Reid in 1727 and had 9 children, all were born in Calton. Do you know of any Johnstons still living in Calton today? Could they be descendants?
This is my paternal ancestry. I have a tree dating back to 1836 with the marriage of Edward CHESTERS to Elizabeth MURDOCH in 1861, Bridgeton, Scotland. If any one is related you might be interested to know that there were cousin marriages and multiple marriages taking place. Am in touch with a "cousin". It seems that these folk may have originated in N. Ireland, though they could have gone there for work. Inevitably the line might be traced to England, bearing in mind the city of the same name. Would be interested in sharing information with anyone directly descended
