I am searching for the family of my ancestor Dennis Whalen. He immigrated to the state of Michigan, United States some time in the mid 1800s. I have letters from someone who calls herself his "sister" and goes by both Mary Phelan and Mary Duggan. She has children that have also gone to the US and by the inquiries in the letters, it sounds as though they are in or near MI. She has two children at home in 1904, Patt age 24 and Katie age 21. She has a married daughter in Ireland named Annie who has two children in 1904, Anastasia age 9 and Michael age 2, but I do not know the married name. She states she owns a small portion of land and her return address is Goodwins Garden , Kells, Kilkenny. The letter states that Dennis Whalen's native parish is Windgap and that his cousin Father Brophy said a mass for him when he died in August 1902. Any help connecting with possible descendents or researching the church records of Dennis Whalen is appreciated greatly!!
