The 1911 census states that my gt grandfather William Horn was born in Nettlestead in Kent around 1835. His father was also called William. William was married in 1859 in Rayleigh in Essex to Mary Ann Gumber. He died in 1916 in Combs Ford Suffolk. I have been unable to send for his birth certificate as I cannot find the record of the birth and therefore cannot research this side of my family back any further. Does anyone have William in their own research?

James Woolcock married a Sarah in Dover St Mary's, their first child within that parish being born in 1818. They did not marry in that parish and they may have married and perhaps had earlier children before 1818. Their first child was called THOMAS GAMBRILL WOOLCOCK and so possibly Gambrill was Sarah's maiden name. From her given age at death, she was born about 1786. There is indeed a Sarah Gambrill born in Nonington in that year, but unfortunately I've also tracked down a marriage between Sarah Woolcock and Peter Atkins, giving Sarah's age and place of birth as 1786 in Nonington! I'm anxious to find if there may have been two Sarah Gambrills born in that year.

Lived variously in Ruxley, Honeyden Lodge and finally Watercress Cottages. William Henry described variously in censuses and baptism records as gardener and labourer, but family recalls he was a joiner. Son William married Mildred May Whatley, daughter of parish clerk Henry Whatley, and was well known locally as gardener/chauffeur to Green of Green and Siley Weirs Ltd. Son Alfred John killed in WW1. Family grave was in St James, N Cray but cannot find it now.

I am looking for the property inhabited by the Misses Lowe, specifically because of their butler, William Boitoult. Apparently James Lowe owned several tithes within the village in 1838 and these, no doubt, passed to his daughters. In several of the censuses, the Misses Lowe live next door to Lowes lodge, between the rectory and the almshouses (Jubilee Cottages). I would love to find any pictures relating to the Misses Lowe and particularly their staff, but also the specific house in which they lived. I am assuming that their house was NOT the one later reconstructed at the Weald and Downland Museum, but one can hope. Many thanks in anticipation of any information. Angi

Hi, Looking for information on George Henry Brown and his wife Louisa Perry. The rason for posting this request under Paddock Wood is that we understand the family had connections with Lymes Farm and Gedges Farm. We have George's death certificate which states that he died in 1949 aged 69 at Badmonden, Horsmonden, Kent. and his occupation is given as a shephard. He is Buried at All Saints C of E Church in Brenchley, Kent. The only marriage we could find relating to a George Henry Brown and Louisa Perry is that the marriage took place in Lingfield on 5th March 1898 at the parish church. George's dad is given as a William Brown, labourer, and Louisa's dad as decesed. The two witnesses were Joseph Neal or Teal and Sarah Kislingbury? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, John.

Looking for information re Jane, presumably illegitimate daughter of Edward PILCHER (1817-1868, a bachelor) of Bifrons, Patrixbourne, nr. Canterbury We have a photograph of Jane, in not very flattering, untidy ringlets, which was taken in June 1878 in Birmingham by W. Sherrell (Photographer), of 107, Newhall Street, Corner of Ann Street, Birmingham. Very difficult to say how old she was at the time  anything from mid teens to late twenties? On the reverse of the photo somebody (she?) has written with a flourish: Jane Pilcher, daughter of Edward Pilcher of Bifrons Nr. Canterbury, 1878. FINIS (!) In 1861 two of Edwards married sisters, Jane GAUSBY and Emily ROBINSON, were living in Wordsworth Place, Aston, Birmingham, and possibly Edwards daughter Jane was living or staying with some member of the family in 1878? But who was she? Who was her mother? What surname did she use? We have no other family record of her.

He was born at Newnham, Kent. His wife Mary Southerden Malley was born at Chatham. Children (in 1851) of James/Mary were: Mary M aged 25, born London, Confectioner's Assistant. Henry M, aged 23, b. Middx. Frances E, aged 20, b. Middx. William aged 18 apprentice to Fish Factor, b. Middx and Ann aged 9, b.Middx. James died at Bush Peckham, nr East Peckham, Kent on the 16th of August 1866.Inventor of the Pimms Drink, buried at Holy Trinity Church Easr Peckham Kent in the graveyard the inscription shows In Memory of James Pimm who died August 16th 1866 aged 67 years, also Mary Southernden (WRAY) wife of James Pimm who died 28th of February 1864. It is believe that they lived at Pimms Place Bush Peckham, Kent.

They had at least 7 children, Henry 1858, John 1860, James 1862, Harriet 1865, Fanny 1867, William 1870 and Thomas, 1874, my great grandfather, all born in Pegwell, St Lawrence, Ramsgate Kent. Thomas married Susannah Larkins in 1897. She was born 1875 in Tilmanstone, Eastry. Her parents were Charles Larkins and Susan Rose. Thomas & Susannah had one son, Thomas (!) Harry, who married Marie Brush and produced one daughter, Melody - my mother. Anyone with any info about any of this lot please contact me. Chandler family of Richborough - (Richborough Port - Kent)
My 3xgreatgrandparents were Giles and Hannah Chandler who lived in Castle Cottage besides the ruins of Richborough Castle. This cottage was built about 1750 and my family lived there until about 1900. When Giles beame frail and unable to work as a shepherd he went to live with his daughter in Cliffend Ramsgate. His nephew Edward Chandler with wfe Cathherine moved into the cottage and was there last on the 1891 census. He had 3 daughters Rosella, Bertha E and Nellie J. I belive Nellie married and became Mrs Pointer and had a son Henry E in 1900. Ther family were in Ramsgate in 1901. Does anyone have connections with this family.
