red mail KATHLEEN ESTHER ROGERS (1910-2003)
Kathleen was my mother. She was a student at the London Royal Academy of Music between 1928-1933, and thereafter became a music teacher in Folkestone, Sheringham and Wakefield. She married Aubrey Harold FORD in 1941. It is a puzzle to me to know how she managed to study in London, it was not very usual for the time for a lady to travel up by train every day, how did she finance five years training. The RAM have confirmed her details, likewise the schools in which she worked, but there is a gap in my knowledge, which I would be very happy to fill. Many thanks for any information anyone could give me.
red mail PERCIVAL
I'm trying to find more info about the family of John & Elizabeth Percival, who lived in Sutton at Hone in the 1780s & 90s. I have found birth records for William (1780), John (1782), Richard (1784), Mary Ann (1787), James (1789), Thomas Henry (1792) and Edward (1794), who all appear to be children of John & Elizabeth. Also a burial record for a John Percival in 1797 (no age given, so could be father or son), and a burial record for Elizabeth Percival, aged 59, in 1816. There don't seem to be birth records in the Sutton at Hone area for either John snr or Elizabeth, or a marriage record for them, so I'm wondering if they arrived from somewhere else. My ggg-grandfather was Thomas Henry, who moved to Rotherhithe, and became a contractor on the Greenland Dock.
