Samuel Oatham, born 1803 in Stone, son of James Oatham and Hester (surname unknown) and married to Susannah Dowsett had ten children born in various places in Essex and Surrey before moving into the Bethnal Green area of London. I'm trying to discover where James came from. This is quite likely to be in the Chelmsford area of Essex.
red mail Walter family of Bean Farm
I have hit a brick wall in my family research. John WALTER was born on 9/12/1800 and baptised at Swanscombe on 31/12/1800, recorded as the son of John and Mary WALTERS (note the added "S" in error). He owned Bean Farm in the parish of Stone near Dartford. I cannot trace where his father was born or where the family lived before it moved to Bean. Can you help please?
red mail Brown
My paternal Grandfather was a William Brown of Stone Kent, born on the 29th of October 1870, it is understood he was one of 16 children however nothing is known in my surviving family of the other siblings. Great grandfather was a Labourer/Watersider of Gravesend, Kent and I have no information about my Great Grandmother at all. Grandfather enlisted in the Royal Navy in 1890, and served in the Navy through the First World War dying in the Great 'Flu epidemic of 1918, having reached the rank of Chief Stoker. He married Ellen Parks in 1895 and my father William Frederick Charles Brown was the eldest child and the only son of three children. My interest is to add to my existing family tree which has little other information prior to my grandparents

red mail Bevan Of Stone Park House
In the 1881 census Thomas Bevan lived at Stone Park House. I believe he may have owned (with partners?) one of the cement works on Stone Marsh. These were called Artillery, Albion, Shield and Greenhithe works. In 1901 the family seem to have sold outto The Associated Portland Cement Manufacturers (1900) Limited. I note that one of their brands was Knight, Bevan & Stuge's 'Pyramid' Cement. Thomas had (I think) two sons, Robert and Edmund and a daughter Gertrude. I would be most interested inany information on the works, the house or the family.
