SMITH family of Shoreham
I was hoping to be able to connect with the previous post, but unfortunately can't find a link .... yet! I am looking for any descendants/relatives of Thomas SMITH (b 1786) married 1812 to Ann ROGERS - children: Thomas (1814); Elizabeth (1818); Ann (1819); Henry (1822); Mary (1824); Jane (1827); Philadelphia (1829) Mary SMITH is my GG Grandmother who had an illegitimate child named Mary Ann in 1849 at Shoreham, then went to live in the Lambeth/Southwark area of South London, "married" James Francis BRISTOW and had five more children. Husband James died 1871 and the family emigrated to South Australia in 1876, where she married again. She died in 1899 is buried in suburban Adelaide. Jane Smith married Richard Frederick BROOKS in 1844. The Brooks family also emigrated to South Australia. (1856) The families all seem to have lived around the Shoreham, Chelsfield, Halstead areas, though the children moved mostly to the South London areas in the 1850/60s. Does anyone recognise these names as being in their own family tree? Would love to hear from you. Irene
