On a recent short visit to England, visited St Nicholas but found no Green family tombstone although not all were legible. The church was locked up & could not gain access inside. red mail BROWN family
I am new to this list and am trying to trace the following family I feel may be my grandfather's - A family as follows found in the 1901 Census - Mother (head of household) Annie BROWN aged 47 Albert (Ernest) BROWN (aged 21 on this census) (born 12 Feb 1880) in India Brother George aged 17 born Plumstead, Kent Sisters Edith, Elizabeth and Ellen one born Plumstead Kent, the younger two born Greenwich living in the Civil Parish of Greenwich House No. 50 (Road/Street not known) I would like some help with clarification of the actual address and any information about the rest of the family in other earlier census's. My belief is that the father of the family was serving in the British Army in India (does anyone know what campaign was being fought in India then) at the time of Albert's birth, but beyond that information i.e. was he killed in action or did he stay in India whilst his wife and subsequent children lived in firstly Plumstead, Kent and then Greenwich, London? So many "if's" I'm afraid. I know my grandfather was in Jersey, Channel Islands after the 2nd World War having married there and had 2 sons (the younger being my father in 1920).
