Hi my Grandparents Lily May Adams and Francis William Bertram parsons were married on 19 dec 1919 in Lydd. My Grandfather is listed as staff sergent both apparentl reside in Lydd. My problem is my grandfathers age is so badly written on the certificate I'm unable to discover therefore his birthdate. my grandmother was 19 at the time of her marriage. is anyone able to help?

Richard Winder born Lydd about 1794. Married a Ann ? from St. Margarets at Cliffe, Kent and lived for the rest of his life in Dover. He died 30th June 1881 in the Union Workhouse, Dover aged 88 years. His decendants continued to live in Dover until his grandson Henry Stephen moved to Leicester in the late 19th century.

There is an illeg Edward bpt 1809, mother Frances.

My G-G-Grandfather, JOHN JENKIN (JENKYN) TERRY, was born in Lydd on 27 Aug 1806, the son of STEPHEN TERRY (1773-1850) and DOROTHY JENKIN(S)(C. 1779-1844). He became a Surgeon, and practiced in Wittersham. John Carpenter from Mersham (b ca 1800, Mersham) lived in Dymchurch with his wife, Hannah (Annie)possibly Idenden(b 1798, Lydd) until they both died in 1882. John and Hannah had several children (information in family bible) including Mary Ann (b. 1826, Dymchurch) who married Solomon Pepper (b. ca 1818, Fishtoft, Lincs); Solomon and Mary Ann had no sons but six daughters (Lucy Agnes, married William Ovenden; Laura, married William Barson (from Kingston-on-Soar, Notts); Maria, married Adolphe Noos (British subject from Belgium); Mary Ann (Minnie), married George Foord (or Ford); Emily Malvina, married Luke Albert W Powell. Mary Ann Carpenter's siblings were: George m Emily J ?; Elizabeth Susannah m William Carpenter from Hythe and had several children (including Louisa who m John Newman of Hythe); Maria m John Cobb from Aldington; William m Malvina ? from Sandhurst; Henry m Sarah Huckstep (widow); Daniel m Harriet Gates; Eliza and John. I am looking for information to take me back a generation to John's parents in the Aldington area or forwards from some of the collateral branches (eg. Newman, Cobb, etc.)
Have managed to trace my father's side of the family back to 1700s and they are mainly in Lydd. I have information back to Richard Jones and Mary Venner who married 6/6/1775 at Ivychurch. They are, I believe, both buried in Lydd. Also my g grandads brother is named on The War Memorial Mural Tabet on the North Wall of the Tower, L. Jones (the initial L stands for Lomas) His parents Charles and Jane Jones of "Homeleigh." Boulder Wall, Lydd in 1916. The family can be traced back to Robert Cobb who moved to New Romney in about1700 the family grew with siblings / cousins in Lydd and then in Ivychurch where they lived untill the late 19th C.
