red mail Elizabeth Carter Sharpe 1780- 5 October 1868 married name Read.
Hello, was looking for information on Elizabeth Carter Sharpe 1780-1868 who married READ, William, the illegitimate son of PETTITT, Thomas, and a WALLIS, Jemima. William was adopted by Mr Phullager Read who married Jemima. So yeah Elizabeth Carter Sharpe was the daughter of a Ms Kezia Sharp/e who, also with Mr Thomas Pettitt, would have another illegitimate child Kezia Sharp Jr. who died as a small child and is buried with her mother Kezia in Lamberhurst. Pettitt had multiple illegitimate children with multiple women and it's amusing that his illegitimate daughter's half sister would marry his illegitimate son tho. Yup. Anyway, presumably Elizabeth Carter Sharpe was illegitimate as there's no record of the mother Kezia marrying Carter, nor any indication who Carter was and yet it's likely it was the father surname as it would be a strange middle name to give. Elizabeth Carter Sharpe (Read) died 5 October 1868 and was buried in Lamberhurst and I have visited her grave there. Any help with her and Kezia would be appreciated thank you.
red mail James Playfoot
James Playfoot was my great grandfather. He was born in Lamberhurst on 27 October, 1836. His birth certificate shows his mother as being Dinah Playfoot but no father is listed. It is widely known throughout the family that James was illegitimate. He married Charlotte Fishenden on 27 October, 1856 and they had many children. Should welcome any information or comments about his father.

red mail Reeves and Cloutt
I was wondering whether anyone knows anything about the family of a clockmaker from Lamberhurst by the name of Benjamin Reeves who died in 1790 March 28th. His name is inscribed on the brass face of our grandfather clock dated 1774 which has been passed down through the generations from my aunt's husband's family (Cloutt). He is known to have worked on the Battle church clock where the churchwarden's accounts show that he was paid £11 3s for repairs in 1774.
researching above families 1837-1901. Especially William Reed a balcksmith born 1808 Lamberhurst married Sophia Hickmott (born 1811 Lamberhurst) 1828 in Tonbridge. There is a connection between these names somehow!!
