I am researching my GGG grandfather William Matthews 1819-1871 , although born in unknown place in UK he died in India having emigrated . He was employed by the East India Company and the Indian Civil Service. He had 7 children , the first 3 William b. 1846, Thomas b. 1849 and Charlotte b. 1853 with a Mary whilst the other 4 Charles, George, Katherine and Arnold with two different Indian women. In a Who Who's 1936 entry William 1819 is said to be either from or was living then in Deal , Kent. However there seems to be no evidence to prove this despite many Matthews's living there. However I have come across a Thomas Matthews being born 1849 so could this be the link ? If any one has any information etc I would be most grateful , a Regards. Andrew
