red mail William Edwards, Taylor of Deptford
This is my 3xgreatgrandfather who married Elizabeth Adams (father John mother Ann) in 1795 at St Alphege, Greenwich and had 8 children. He died in 1815 and left a detailed Will which has been a huge help in my research but, because of the common name I can get back no further with accuracy. He was a member of the Guildhall and was rich when he died which surprised me for a Merchant Tailor but I have found some references to links with the USA and one of his sons also William was there when the mother Elizabeth's Will was written in 1846. One other son George became a brushmaker and lived at Spitalfields from about 1835 onwards. Would love to trace the Edwards and Adams families further back.

I have hit a complete brick wall. Trying to trace back on my grandfathers maternal side. George Samuel Rice b 1865 lived in St Paul, Deptford area and married Annie Callan/Callaghan. I believe she is a Callaghan as I found her brothers name on a census living with the family and he is listed as Callaghan, although on a birth certificate we have for their son lists her as formerly a Callan. I have found a family that originated in Limerick and am pretty sure it is hers but cannot prove this as I cannot find the marriage details for her and George. Could it be that, if she did indeed come from Ireland, she could have been Catholic? Would they have possibly married in a Catholic church? Where do I find these records? Can anybody help - any ideas? This is the last bit of my family jigsaw and is proving very frustrating! Thank you for reading this.

Living nearby in Deptford were brothers: THOMAS GUNNIE PINKNEY (wife Mary A. Pinkney)and CHARLES EDWARD PINKNEY (wife Ellen/Eleanor nee WHITCOMBE - presumably related to the Deptford cycle shop family). William Pinkney jnr.
