My ancestors, William and Ann Lloyd, resided in Lady Grey Lane/Place/Yard in Crayford from 1874 to 1891. There were several Pubs in the street namely Lord Hill Pub, Lady Grey Pub and the Prince Albert. Apparently the place I am looking for is now the carpark of the Woolwich Bank at 28 Watling Street. Any info about Lady Grey would be so appreciated. Ann Lloyd died in December 1892 at 2 Lady Grey Lane, Crayford.

They had about eight children, William J-Alan W-Frank-Fred-Agnes-Herbert-Ada- and Lily. William snr. was a silk block printer. William and Caroline were lost at sea when the SS Arabic was torpedoed by U-boat in the Irish sea in 1915. They were on theitr way to the USA. My great great great grandmother was born in Crayford. Her name was Susannah Hammant and she married Daniel Downes. They had numerous children - at least eight born in Crayford. Three other children born in Langley, Nr Macclesfield, Cheshire. Presumably the family moved to Cheshire because of the silk industry.
