Please can anybody help with regard to the location of these cottages in Chartham. They were certainly standing between 1851 and 1939 as I have found them on all the census returns between 1851 and 1911. They also appear on the 1939 register but I cannot find them on any map
red mail Searching for the Gore family in Chartham
I'm looking for any information regarding my great grandfather John Gore, his wife Mary (or Maria) Elizabeth (maiden name unknown at present) and their children Philip Cecil (my grandfather) his twin brother Cecil Philip, Hilda, Stuart, Edith (Sissy) John Gore was a miller by trade and Mary was a district nurse. John appears to have died around 1900, possibly in nearby Blean and Hilda does not appear in the 1901 census although I know she lived to a ripe old age in Chartham. red mail Asylums in Kent
A relative of mine, Mary Ann Nickolds born in 1828/9 in Barham Kent, married John Dunn in 1852 (Dover). John Dunn and their children were in the 1871 census living in Barham Kent without Mary, but she is listed as the mother of Arthur and Frederick Dunn as being in a lunatic asylum. I cannot find her anywhere in the 1871 census. But, in the 1881 census she is to be found in the Kent County Lunatic Asylum in Chartham, Bridge, Kent. This asylum was built in 1875, so I am trying to find out if there were any other local asylums where Mary would probably have been committed to prior to 1875? I would be most grateful for any info. Thanks
