I believe that my Grandmother, Maud Abdale was at St Mary's at the time of the 1890 Census. Does anyone know where I can find the records of this home for convalescent children as I need to know exactly how long she was there? Does it still exist? Any information about this place would be much appreciated.

My great grandfather, famous Victorian publisher Edwin John Brett lived in Broadstairs in a very large house called Oaklands in the latter half of the 1880's. He then moved back to London and died around 1895. I am searching for relatives who have descended from him. One of his sons,Edgar Percy (my grandfather) died in Brighon in the 1930's. Edgar had three sons, Percy, Valentine and Edwin Brett, my father. Percy Brett and wife Queenie lived in London and had two children John and Cynthia. I am trying to trace my cousins and also any relatives who have descended down from Edwin John Brett, who with Eliza his wife had 9 children.

My sisterinlaw, was considered a sickly child and has recollections of being sent to convaless at Broadstairs in the 50s. she remembers walking to the beach under a tunnel, and it being run by nuns, we believe it to be St Marys any info to further her search gratefully receieved.

I am trying to trace relatives of my Grandmother, Winifred Elizabeth Bedborough (d.o.b.Dec 9 1884. Daughter of James E & Sophia. As a child I wrote to my Auntie Nell & Marion and they lived in Broadstairs. They both died in the mid-1970's. I had received a letter from a cousin but unfortunately I have misplaced it. I do know that my GM sailed from England to Canada to meet with and marry my GF William Edward Green and they settled in Western Canada. GF returned to England in 1915 to serve in WW1 with the Canadian OverSeas Expeditionary Force and they resided at GM's family home in Folkstone. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Reginald Harry Osmond owned The Bromstone Riding School - Bromstone Road - Broadstairs during the mid 1930´s.( Kelly´s Comercial Directory 1936 ). The only other information that I have - is that he was married to a white south african and they had one child Phillip. Reginald died around that time of some type of peritonitis. Phillip would be my cousin.

I would be grateful for any infomation concerning Thomas Padget(t) who married Agnes Pettit on 6 April 1872 at the Ebenezer Chapel, Ramsgate. Residence at time of marriage was in Broadstairs. Agnes's father was Thomas Pettit, a Coachman. Siblings ofThomas Padget(t)seem to have settled in nearby Margate. Thomas & Agnes were married by Henry J. Bevis according to the Rites and Ceremonies of the Independents
