Searching for details of George Henry Bateman brn abt 1799 joined the 57th west Middlesex Regiment of the British Arm. Married Ann or Mary Ann Kelly in Ireland while stationed there in 1820 at St Mary's Kilkenny. In 1825 the 57th Regiment moved to Australia where he arrived aboard the Minstrel. George was stationed at Carter's Barracks in Sydney until his death in 1868 from diarrhoea (that will do it everytime!!!) I'm looking for anyone who might have any information on George's family in England. Thankyou.

I have a marriage certificate for George Carpenter & Ann Milham married in Parish Church in Boxley, Kent in 1844. Registration district of Hollingbourne. I am trying to trace their parents and siblings. George Carpenter was a Bailiff and Samuel Milham was a Horsekeeper. George and Ann lived at Ashford Road South Vinters Lodge for many years. Can anyone help me with this family please. I live in New Zealand and my Carpenter ancestors came here in 1886, and it is extremely hard to do research from here. Betty

Around 1690-1750, several members of Athawes family involved in tilemaking here. William A's 1749 will included tileworks at Lower Grange, Boxley. In 1720's, Peter A was supplying tiles to Rochester Dean & Chapter. Thomas A (m. 1689 Boxley) was also a tileburner. I'd like to find more details of this industry, including exact locations of tileworks and the Athawes involvement.
