Desperately seeking information on CYRIL EDWARD TEASDALE MATTHEWS born Lahore, India. Married Eileen Morgan 1916 and employed as Inspector of the Burma Oil Company. In 1959 Cyril and Eileen arrive in UK and settle in Sellindge, Kent, where he died in 1964 with Eileen living until 1987 aged 91. Hi, I am trying to trace my grandfather Ernest Watson, born around 1913 and was married to Mabel Burton in 1934 in West Ashford, Kent and had two children Pearl and Frank. Charles Croucher was born in Hothfield in Sept 1851, baptised in Pluckley in early 1852. His father was James (Agr Lab) born 1825/1827 - his mother Rebecca (Brenchley).b.1828 in Ashford. Charles joined the army and served in a variety of places, mainly Royal Artillery. He also servrd in Limerick, Ireland where on 17/3/1875 he married Ellen Purcell. She was the daughter of Thomas Purcell, a soldier born in Buttevant in Co. Cork, Ireland and was born in Plymouth while her father was serving there in 1854. My g-grandfather Thomas Croucher (Charles and Ellen's son) was born in 1876, an only child of that marriage. Charles subsequently (c. 1877) went to Mauritius and then ....nothing. Any info on his army career or death would be appreciated. His widow Ellen remarried in 1882, again in Limerick Pvte Ralph Brown originally from Bury's Edge, Durham. Would also like to know who James's (born Hothfield 1825/1827)parents were. In 1841 census it looks as if he was working away from home.

They had a son whilst in Kent, John Lamonby b. 1813 he was christened in Brabourne (Braban) Lees, as they would have been non conformists I don't know which church, he moved to Blackburn in Lancashire circa 1835 and worked as a tailor. Am looking for Joseph Ashford, who was master mariner certified New York in 1840 aged about 20 years who came back to Britain and married a woman with surname sheppard. She could have been sister of William Sheppard of Bristol. The story goes that this persons grandfather or ggrandfather was sent to America (late 1700s - 18th century.)because of his gambling habits He was supposed to have set up the town of Ashford Connecticut (which is apparantly untrue) Any info would be greatly appreciated.
I would be interested in learning any information about the above named (my late mother in law) during the period when she worked as a nurse at Hothfield Hospital, near Ashford. She worked there from before WW2 until early 1947 when she left to get married. She was friendly with Irene(Rene) Poysden(nee Burnell) and her husband Fred who lived in New Street at that time.

Alfred Packham was born 1840 at Wittersham,Kent.He married Harriet Venner 1866 and they had 4 children all born at Ashford. Emma Jane 1867; John Edward 1869; Alice Louisa 1871; Caroline Elizabeth 1873. After Harriet`s death in 1874 Alfred married Mary Ann Brann and they had one daughter named Harriet 1879.
