My maternal grandmother was Edith Jane THEAR (n. 1877, Sawbridgeworth; m. 1899 Paddington (George Augustus JENNINGS); d. 1955, Hammersmith. Her parents were Charles THEAR (1834-1909) and Ann EATON (1839-1901). Her grandparents were William THEAR (~1785-1859), Elizabeth HARDING (~1796-1851), Simon EATON (1803-1868) and Martha CLARKE (~1809-1882). So far I have been unable to take either the THEAR or HARDING lines back any further. Can anyone shed any light on these two families please?

Looking for information about George Mead(e) yeoman of Sabridgworth who was born c1640 and died 22 Mar 1708 (will proved 25 Feb 1708/9), his wife Hannah (formerly Hearn(e)) who died circa 1729 (will proved 12 Jun 1729) and their family.

William Maskell / Mascall married Jane Reed in Sawbridgeworth on 14 September 1839. His father was Thomas, hers was John. Does anybody out there know William's mother's name? Also, another William Maskell / Mascall married Jane Jennings on 17 June 1893, again in Sawbridgeworth. Similarly, does anybody know his mothers name. There is no clear candidate for his birth in the civil registration index.
Can anyone give any info on the Alger's that lived or were born here during the 18th century or before. contact with any decendants would be great. I am from the Alger's that resided in Great Canfield for centuries and looking for a connection to branches of the family tree.

I'm interested in William Freeman born Sawbridgeworth in c1816 and moved to Thorley where he married Louisa (Widby) They had one son Benjamin and numerous daughters some of which did not survive. The ones that did were Susan,Emma, Eliza, Helen, Jane, Lydia, Selina, and Alice.
I can trace my ancestors to Sawbridgeworth, 1730-1829, and the PATMORE, WALKER and WOOD families.
