Anyone ever come across the illiterate JARMAN / GARMON / JAMMAN family amongst their direct ancestors? Eliza Jarman, dau of James and Ellen (Elenor) nee Puddiphatt who married in 1799. What could the correct spelling be for "Puddiphatt"?? ... Eileen.
red mail HOOKER and JARMAN
George HOOKER of Great Gaddesden HERTS (his father was Thomas Hooker, farmer) married Eliza (Elisa?) JARMAN (Jamman?) of St Pancras, Middlesex (her father was James Jarman (dec.)) on 3 July 1847 at St Pancras Church, Parish of St Pancras, County of Middlesex. George could sign his name but Eliza marked with an X. I have a photocopy of this marriage record but it is pretty hard to understand the writing. One of their children, Mary Hooker born 1850, is my Great-Grandmother. Any help would be very much appreciated. Eileen.
