Researching Pritchards in Bushey and surrounding area.An Edward Pritchard married my ancestor Emma Louise Bailey in Watford in 1911.His family were resident at Sparrows Herne, Bushey.Edward was killed at the outbreak of WW1 in Flanders.I am keen to link with anyone researching this family to share info. I know that Edward's father also named Edward was a publican and farmer and lived in Bushey into the 20th cen.

my nan went to mary hill school in bushey she was also in the orphanage sparrow hern she was called ingrid williams but was known as sheila williams if you have any information with her name it would be great if you could pass it on she is writting a life story but needs prove to use the name sheila it would be a great help to her and would also be great to have that infomation for herself as she has no pics or anything of her childhood she knows that a photo was taken when she was around the age of 5 so that would have been 51-52 the pic was used in the local paper and it was of her in billy smarts circus thats the only thing she can really remember so anything would be a great help thankyou for reading this

I am trying to trace my husbands family.HIs mother was Helen Pritchard 04/03/1923. She had several brothers, Leslie 1916,James 1924,Derek 1931, Leonard and Mervyn. Their father was William Pritchard and mother was Mary Dover. We think great grandfather was Edward Pritchard and great grandmother was Mary.Len believes they ran the Royal Golf Public House in (1901)Sparrows Herne Bushey Herts, can anyone put some light on this? James is the only surviving member of William's family.

Frederick Vaughan Curtis was born 11 December 1897 in Little Bushey,Bushey Rural,Watford.Father,Frederick Joseph Curtis,Mariner Merchant Service.Mother Elizabeth Mary Curtis,formerly Parker.F.V.Curtis was awarded the Miltary Medal while serving in France during WW1 with the Australian Military.The Curtis Family conducted business under the name of Curtis Bros,in Chefoo North China from 1898 till 1915 and moved to Australia upon the untimely death of Frederick Joseph.Elizabeth Mary along with children Arthur Joseph,Frank Rufford,Mary Hope and Margaret Faith arrived in Sydney aboard the S,S Tiayuan.Frederick Vaughan was already in Australia studying agriculture.At the outbreak of war F.V.Curtis enlisted after stating he was older than he actually was,went to Gallipoli and then on to France where he was awarded the Military Medal.Frederick Joseph Curtis and Elizabeth Mary Parker were wed on 11 March 1896 at Holy Trinity Church,Penge Surrey.The grooms normal residence was at Bushey.William Curtis was father of the groom and his wife was Harriet Vaughan(mn)widow of John Perkins.Harriet and John had one child,Eliza Emma.

George BAIL (bc 1792) married Fanny TEMPLE (bc 1797 Sarratt, Herts) in Bushey in July 1816. Nine known children William 1819 became a cowkeeper in the Edgeware Road, George 1822, ANN 1824, Charles 1829, James 1831 became a pork butcher in Marylebone, Fanny 1834, Eliza 1835, John 1836 became a pork butcher in Paddington and Frederic(k) 1841. Both the daughters ANN and Fanny married John Horatio SAMUELS. George BAIL died in 1858. Fanny moved to Westbourne Square from where she ran a dairy. She died in 1874. George and Fanny are buried at the Bushey Chapel (United Reformed Church).

William Wells
Have been seeking the marriage of my ancestor William Wells for some time. Born 1808 in Bushey or Watford, Herts. Died 1858 in Bushey. He married Mary Claxton (said to from either Northaw or Watford)after 1841. They had 5 children (1843 - 1854), all born in Bushey, including my great-great grandmother Sarah (1845-1928). There is a possible 1st marriage for Willam - to Susannah French in 1830 Bushey. Susannah Died in 1840,. On the 1841 census, Susannah's mother Elizabeth, is living with William and his children. In the 1851 census, Elizabeth french is a lodger with William's "second" wife Mary.
