red mail Rudge family of Weston under Penyard, Heref.
I believe my ancestor, Sarah Rudge, married Thomas Bayly in 1798 in WUP. He was a shoemaker, I think, and may have been born in Saul, Gloucestershire. I haven't got a birth for her, in about 1785 or 86 according to the census entries of her age later. They may have had several children in WUP before moving to How Caple before the birth of their daughter Hannah in 1810. Thomas died in 1811, but Sarah, now listed as a pauper, (in the workhouse?), had another daughter Catherine in 1813. I think she married my ancestor John Cook(e) in Micheldean, Gloucs. in 1817. Any info to confirm or refute all this most welcome. Jenny L.

They moved to Penrhos, Monmouthshire and had WILLIAM(b.1870),THOMAS (b & d.1872), HENRY(b.1873 married LOUISE ABERCROMBIE LESLIE), ELIZABETH(b.1875), JOHN (b,1880), MARY ANN TEMPERANCE(b.1882) and LEONARD (b.1888). Henry junior and his wife Louise moved to BRAMPTON ABBOTTS in Herefordshire. He was in the Royal Marines. He died in 1926 in Brampton Abbotts after being knocked down by a vehicle one night. An open verdict was recorded. As there are so many Carpenter children, there must be some relatives out there somewhere! I'd love to hear from you !

red mail Longford - Weston under Penyard
I have researched my family back to James Longford 1758 in Weston under Penyard. I know that his parents were William & Elizabeth but I can find nothing more. Confusingly in 1764 & 1768 I have found a Jane and Mary respectivly born to William & Mary Longford in WuP along with a William & Mary Price married in 1753 in Lea. I find it difficult to believe that there were two William Longfords in such a small place at the same time. Any information would be gratefully received
