red mail Bishops Waltham in the 1940s and 1950's
Just a few lines addressed principally to anyone interested in facts, figures or local personnel pertaining to Bishops Waltham. I was born in the village in the mid 1930's so I may be able to assist researchers interested in the 40's, 50's and 60's in particular. My memory is not quite as sharp as it was 40 years ago, but it ain't bad for an old'un. I went to school in the village, sung in the church choir at St Peter's for several years, and knew a lot of locals, plus some of the village's history and rumours. I am familiar, also, with somne of the areas adjoining the village like, for example, Dundridge, Dean, Ashton, Waltham Chase, etc., so ask away before I lose my marbles.
