I am searching for my Great Grandfather, George Suffield B. 1826 in Beaulieu, Hampshire. On his marriage - which took place in Jersey, Channel Islands in 1850, the certificate states that his father- George Suffield was a Carpenter. I have no other information. I would appreciate any information on any Suffield families that lived about this time in this area. Thankyou for your time. Pauline.

My 5 x great grandfather William Warner was steward to Ralph, 1st Duke of Montagu. He was married to Anthionetta Burman and their children included William 1734, Anne 1738, Thomas 1739, John 1741, Philip 1745 and Lucy 1747. His daughter Anne married Henry Adams, the shipbuilder of Bucklers Hard in 1760. Any additional information would be most welcome.

My great-great grandfather James Gritt was born Beaulieu c1815 into a traveller/ chimney-sweep family, buried Dibden 1871. I have a fair bit on the Gritts, but any related information welcome - especially on his second wife Harriett (born Rye, Sussex c1811)and third wife Kezia (born Salisbury c1821)
Pocock Family
Charles Pocock married Lucy Adams, daughter of Henry Adams, shipbuilder of Bucklers Hard, at Beaulieu in 1790. Lucy gave birth to eight children, Charles born 1791, Charles Montagu born 1792, Ann born 1794, Louisa Catherine born 1795, Henry born 1797, Walter born 1800, John Warner born 1803 and Edward Burman born 1805. Henry was the only child who stayed in Beaulieu. He married Leonora Jane Cheyney, daughter of Thomas Cheyney, Agent to Lord Montagu in 1837 and on Thomas's death in 1846 he took over the job of Agent. Henry and Leonora Pocock lived firstly at Sowley House and later at Curtle House at Beaulieu. They had nine children, Leonora Catherine, Thomas Edward, Henry, Mary Emma, Maria Eliza Jane, Anne Laetitia, Walter Charles, Edward Adams and Caroline Eleanor. Henry died in 1859 and Leonora moved to London with her surviving children. However when she died in 1878 she was brought back to Beaulieu and was buried in Beaulieu churchyard with her husband Henry.
