Ellen's previous marriage before Edward had been to a Thomas JONES in 1925 and they had three daughters, Elizabeth, Millicent and Rose Jane. Trying to find what happened to Daisy K (?Kathleen) Gregory who looked after me as a small child and was/is my Godmother. She was married to David .... and I am assuming that Gregory was her married name. Probably born about 1925 or so. I think that her husband was a Prisoner of War and came home about 1947. I belive she lived with her parents while her husband was away and they lived in Ash Road or one of the streets nearby, down towards the GasWorks. I wonder if she had any children of her own? I'm looking for information on the Pullen family who lived on Crimea Rd during the late 19th/ early 20th century. My Great-Grandmother was Edith Gladys Pullen, born in Jullindur in India, in 1897. I have recently found the names of her parents and siblings. They were Winifred, born in Aldershot in 1894, Lil, born in Agra in India in 1900, Albert, born in Kirkee, Bombay in 1902, and George born in Aldershot in 1910-11. Their parents were Edwin and Lavinia. Edwin was a British soldier and served in India for a time, which was where 3 of the children were born, but before and after his service in India they all lived on Crimea Rd. I am just trying to find out any information I can as my nan never knew her mother's family, except for Lil who she remembers visiting as a child. Can anyone help?

My father was a Warrant Officer at the R.A.M.C.barracks at Church Crookham/ Ewshott. We lived at 5, Punjab Quarters near the scool which is still extant. I think they were demolished c.1970, Its a very long shot but does anybody have a photo of the quarters. Have tried Army, Local Authority and Local Historians - no avail! Cheers .

My great-uncle John FINING was stationed at Aldershot Military in Stanhope Lines (Wellington) in 1901. He was living in married quarters with his wife Emma Jane (nee Newman) and their children Emma (b.1897), John (b. 1898) and Ethel(b. 1900). I believe he spent the rest of his life in Aldershot area and passed away in Farnham in 1903. John was born in Staffordshire of Irish stock and grew up in Derbyshire before settling in Hampshire and I would love to know if any Fining relatives still live there.

In an earlier census there had also been a son John Charles. My uncle Percy Southgate was born in Aldershot barracks 1875. His father Edward was a schoolmaster in the 8th Hussars, His mother was Alice Maud Boyle. Alice was born in Ireland and was from a military family. I have been trying to find Edward's birth and parents, but have been unable to find him on any census, so am unable to find in which county he was born. I guess because of his military service he could have been overseas depending where his regiment was at the time.Any help or direction would be appreciated in finding him and where he came from. Mary Ann Morgan b1858 and her sister Catherine b1867 gave their birthplace as Aldershot Hampshire in the 1881 census. Their mother Mary was born in Ireland c1831. On both Mary Ann's (1881) and Catherine's (1888) marriage certificates their father's name and occupation were down as James Morgan coachman, deceased. My brick wall is - I can't find either of their births (got one wrong cert) or any census entries prior to 1881. Does anybody recognise these people or have any ideas as to what I do next? Chalkraft born 22 Mar 1875, married Edith, last name unknown; 7) Frances Elizabeth “Fanny” born in 1878, married Fredrick Dennis Lynch. Eleanor or Ellen Parker Chalkraft died 23 Feb 1881 in Rodmersham, Kent County, England. The family lived on Dungate Lane, Rodmersham at the time of her death. The rest of the family eventually immigrated to Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio. Any further information would be greatly appreciated.

I have recently found fiche of the 1891 census at my LDS. Aldershot is listed in Surrey not Hampshire. Regiments found include the Army Service Corps, 1st Northampton Regiment, Scottish Rifles, District HQ and garrison staff, Medical Corps. If your soldier is listed at all he will likely only give you his name, regiment, age and birthplace but for me that filled in a gap. Worth a try anyway.
