My gt. Grandmother Louisa was born to Sarah Bartlett abt. 1843. Sarah then had Lucinda but gave her the surname Poytress. Sarah then married William Paytress and had two boys. She died in 1851/2 and at the census in 1851 was living with mother Elizabeth Bartlett. William remarried another younger Elizabeth Bartlett and had another family. Looking for Jelf, Jelfe, Gelf, Gelfe in and around Tirley. I have William Jelf (b. abt 1697) who had a daughter Johanna and a son William. His wife was called Mary. Johanna married Edward or Edmund Bartlett of Eldersfield. Looking to try and tie up the loose ends surrounding the ancestors of this William and the descendants of this family. According to the 1881 Census Jane Bailey was born in Tirley, Gloucestershire,about 1856. She was a glover by trade and had numerous children whilst living with Charles Vine born Staunton, Worcestershire (as it was then). My husband's grandfather was one of their sons William Edward Bailey Vine.Does anyone have any information they would be willing to share. Any information would be appreciated.
