red mail Milsom family of Stapleton
I'm currently researching several members of the MILSOM family who lived in Stapleton, Gloucestershire, just outside of Bristol. The earliest reference I can find is Henry Milsom, (born around 1779), who was married in Stapleton in 1799 to Nancy TYLER (born c. 1775 and also a resident of Stapleton). Henry's parents were Charles MILSOM/MELSOM (c. 1735 - 1806) and his wife, Ann. Nancy's parents were Roger TYLER (b. c.1740) and Sarah SMITH (b. 1745). Henry died in 1822 and I know that Nancy ran a shop in the village until her death in June, 1846. Henry & Nancy had 7 children - Mary (b.1800), Charles (1802-1889), William (1804-1871), Henry (1805-1874), Rachel (1807-1891), George (b.1809) & Mary (b.1813).
red mail Burchell or Burchall
Joseph& Sarah Burchell appear on the 1841 census as living here with their family. Joseph was a stonemason. In the next census 1851 only Sarah and family are listed. Can anyone find Joseph? Thanks.
red mail Roberts Family St Philips and Jacob
I am trying to find out information about James Roberts and Susannah his wife. Their son Daniel Roberts was baptised 9 Dec 1781 in the parish of St.Philips and Jacob. James was a cordwainer of Lawrence Hill. I think James married Susannah Flook in 1776. Any information about this family would be greatly appreciated.
red mail Harriet Corfield
My great-great grandomother was Harriet Corfield, born in Stapleton in about 1822, died in Frampton on Severn in 1854, married to Henry Hulbert. I am looking for any information about her parents.
red mail Mary Winstone - was she my grandmother Emma's sister.
From the 1891 Census, I have traced a Mary Winstone (born Abersychan, Monmouthshire) as being a Queen's Scholar at "Training College" Oldburycourt Rd, Stapleton, Glouc. Mary is given as 19 years old; this would tie in with the only other mention I've found of her on the 1871 Census for Trevethin/Abersychan. Her father was Thomas Winstone and her mother Emma (nee Porter: deceased)from Trevethin. The Principle of the College is given as Robert E. Richards - which appears to have been of some size according to the listed people there at the time of the Census. I am interested for any details of both the College, or if there might be links to "my" Winstone family, as it seems some way for Mary to have gone for her training?
