I am searching for any information on my great grandfather. His name was Alfred William Davis (aka Alfred Davies). He was a collier and was married to Florence Daisy May Gibbs of Ruardean in November 1902. They had 8 children; William Frank Leslie b 1908, Alfred Harold b 1903, Archibald Ivor b 1905, Hector Kenneth b 1912 (aka Ken), Queenie b 1916, Royston (Roy) b 1920, Vincent Donald (Don) b 1922 and Ivy Kathleen (Kath) b 1928. My grandfather was Archibald Ivor and he later had a bakery himself in Coventry which was bombed out in 1940, after which he returned to Mitcheldean and opened a bakery there with his wife Vi.
