Walter Lane
I am seeking to find out where Sandhole or Sand Hole Cottage is/was in Kings Stanley. My Great Grandfather Walter Lane lived their from c.1892-1900 prior to this he resided at Knapp House. The address is shown as Coombe Lane King Stanley. The only place I can think it might have been is what is now known as Sandpits Farm. It is possible it was part of the Stanley/Marling family estate. As a child it was described to me as being "a cottage in or near Penn Wood". If anyone can identify this address I would be most grateful to hear from them.

Kings Stanley
My ancestor Benjamin Wheeless, was captured and kept on the ship "TORBAY" until the end of the war and then released in North Carolina, USA. He told his brother that he was going to join the Revolutionary Forces but his brother said that he was going to remain loyal to the King. Benjamin changed his name to WHEELESS to avoid embarrassment to the family. He was born in 1720 in Kings Stanley, Lasboro, Gloucestershire, ENG. Does anyone have any information about this family from Kings Stanley??
