Family history of Spencer and Lewis family
Hi My mum Gwenllian Spencer(Gwen) was born 28/12/1925, a twin to Gwyneth. She iived at 4 Taylors Row, Tirphil. Her parents were Thomas John Spencer and Mary Jane Spencer nee Lewis. My mum told me many stories about her childhood in Tirphil, many of which I recorded. I would love to hear from anyone who knew the family and if they have any photos of old Tirphil etc. Regards Rose

Looking for anyone who can remember the Harris family from Tirphil Glam., Esau and Mary 1901 lived in Railway terrace with their children, In 1911 they lived at their Tobacconist shop at 2,The Squire. Can anyone remember any businesses in The Squire, does it still exist, are there any Harris members left in Tirphil ? I would be thrilled to here any replys. Thanks

Sarah Jane White born 1874 -1877 in Tirphil/ New Tredegar, Glamorgan. Father George White, mother not known. She lived at School Street and The Square Tirphil. Sarah had a son... William Henry White ....born sometime between1892-1895 in Rymney or Rhonda area, his birth father is unknown. Sarah Jane married a George Foster in 1897 but he died in 1899. After he died and in the same year, she married Charles William Jones who she she had further children with. These children were Florence b. 1901, Edward 1909 and Sarah Ann 1907. After her marriage to Charles she lived in High Street Troedrhiwfuwch and also Board Street Pontlottyn. Any info please would be helpful.

According to the recent release of the 1911 Census, the above named was a coal miner, about 38 years of age, living as a boarder with a family at 38 High Street, Troedrhiwfuwch, Tir Phil, Glamorganshire. I believe that house no longer exists. Though many years have passed I wonder if anyone has any information about this person.
Update - I am looking for details of my Tanner Family who lived at Old Chapel, Gas Street, Tirphil in 1901. Also any information on "Granny Tanner's" shop as it was known which was at the end of School Street in Tirphil. I now have a death certificate for Thomas Tanner whose address was 60 School Street, Tirphil U.D. the informant was Tom B Tanner of 25 Walter Street, Abertyswg. The marriage certificate for Thomas Tanner and Sarah Amelia Preece shows Thomas as a Jeweller and they both lived at 201 Commercial Street, New Tredegar, Bedwelty. Any information would be much appreciated

red mail Burial Plot for 1912 death in Tirphil
My paternal Grandmother Mary Regina TUCKER died at Railway Terrace, Tirphil, Gelligaer, Glamorgan in December 1912. Despite several years of searching I have been unable to find her burial registered with any local Council cemeteries and she is not buried at St Cattwg's churchyard, Gelligaer where my Grandfather and Gt Grandfather are buried. I would welcome any help in locating my Grandmothers final resting place please.
