I'm looking for any family links to frederick w SAUNDERS born Circ 1892 occupation coal hewer / fanny elizabeth TRIVETT born Circ 1896. Marriage 1919 Pontypridd. It is said that 13 children came from this marriage, my mother being one and arriving in 1928 namely Marjorie Doreen Sophia SAUNDERS later becoming ROBERTS. I have only ever met one other member of this line of the family, this being Joyce E V SAUNDERS, later to become THOMAS, born 1921, immigrating to Perth Australia Circa 1970. it is known that one brother died after an accident and another brother was named Charlie, the only other names I have are from a census search but with no confirmation that there is a link other than the female maiden name of TRIVETT. The only other piece of information I have is that all the children were placed in the care of "Barnardos" but when and where is not known and can't be confirmed. Any help or possible connection would be very much appreciated.

red mail William SMITH / Myra EVANS
I am looking for any information on the children of William SMITH and Myra (Mira) EVANS (m. 12/01/1892 Cardiff). In particular, I would like anything concerning Violet SMITH (b. 31/10/1901 Cardiff). I have her on the 1911 census at the same address as on her birth certificate. She disappears after this. I am also keen to find any information about Conjetta Elizabeth Edith SMITH (b. 05/07/1916 mmn EVANS, Cardiff), Daisy SMITH (b. 26/10/1913 Cardiff, married Edward J Stephens in 1940 and (I believe) had a daughter Mira). Likewise, anything on Ivor SMITH (married Irene Sarah WILLIAMS Q2 1941 Cardiff), and Gwendoline May SMITH (m. Clifford Leonard HOWELL 26/12/1922 Cardiff). Any info would be helpful
Charles C (1892-1942) and Ernest S (1894-1971) WARBURTON were brothers, they were born in Pontypridd Cardiff. Their parents were Thomas WARBURTON and Jane HOUSE. During WW1 they joined the RAMC, I have two photographs of young soldiers wearing RAMC uniforms but I have not been able to confirm if this is definitely the two brothers. Recently I discovered that in 1915 Charles was serving in the Balkans and Ernest regiment was in Egypt. The family history grapevine says that two brothers were also at the Military Hospital in Netley near Southampton during WW1. The 1939 register address for Charles and his wife Phyliss is 33 Dyffryn Crescent Pontypridd and Ernest and his wife Lilith is 59 Park Street Treforest Pontypridd. I would very much like to have confirmation if these lovely photographs are Charles and Ernest they have been kept in the family album for such a long time. Please get in touch if you are able to confirm and name who these fine young men are. Thank you.

red mail Jones Family
I am trying to find details of 2 brothers who emigrated to Canada, I think Winnipeg as I have a postcard dated of St James's Park Winnipeg dated 1937. They were David John Jones and Thomas Charles Jones. On 1891 census they were aged 13 and 8 sons of Benjamin and Elizabeth Jones nee Williams. The boys were born in Pontypridd and were living in Tir y Berth, Gelligaer, their father was then a farmer. By 1901 David John was missing and the family were living in Hopkinstown Rd Pontypridd. Benjamin was a grocer and also ran the Post Office. My aunt told me they emigrated to Canada and one was a "minister" and the other " a government official". The term minister would have applied to one in the nonconformist church, as all the family were Methodists or Presbyterreans. Lynne

red mail Jenkins, Roberts
Samson and Jockey Roberts (brothers) moved to Pontypridd from the South of England to start a scrap metal business. Jockeys real name was William. At some point Jockey returned South, and Samson spent time in Newport before settling in a village called Aberkenfig. My concern is Samson's daughter Gentila (also mistranscribed as Genty, Jentela etc) who met a David Jenkins in Pontypridd, (he was born 1886 in Pontypridd, father named John Jenkins a coal miner) and on the 1911 census is camped in woods in Abersychan with him and their baby Celia born 1910. My particular interest is that the baby 'disappeared' from the family and was never spoken of. We've traced her forward, including buying her marriage cert, and so we know she didn't die. She did keep her Jenkins surname til marriage so wasn't adopted, unless by her fathers family. Gentila later remarried and had 3 children (one my grandmother) who knew nothing about little Celia. David had a sister Rachel Jenkins born 1889 in Pontypridd. Thankyou, sorry very long winded!!

red mail Thompson/Moss
I'm doing family research for a friend. Her grandfather James THOMPSON married Alice Violet MOSS on 10 July 1910 at the parish church of St Peter, St Paul, Mitcham. According to their marriage certificate at the time of the marriage James lived at 18 Oakwood Avenue and Alice at 3 Kemps Cottages. Her father George MOSS was a coffee house keeper and James's father James was a miner. After the two were married they moved to Pontypridd in Wales where their son Henry George THOMPSON was born in 1912. Father James went off to war and died on the battlefields leaving mother and child. As a result Henry George was placed in an orphanage at about age two until his mother remarried several years later and was taken home. We would love to know anything about this family particularly the Thompson side of the family and also which orphanage the child was placed in. Kind regards, Gay
red mail Albert R. Rees b.07/03/1912 - d. Jan 2003
Hi there, This is probably a huge shot in the dark but I was wondering if anyone has any information on my great grandfathers biological mother, my great grandfather was born in 1912 in the Pontypridd district and his mother died in childbirth after which he was adopted. I'm not entirely sure what his mothers name was or even if her surname was Rees although I'm pretty sure it was because my great grandfather was an illegitimate child. Maybe he was born in the workhouse?? If anyone has any information on her and her family i'd be truly grateful. Thank you

red mail Arthur Henry Cooper
Arthur Henry Cooper (born 02 Sep 1878 Dinedor, Hereford) was a twin. His sister, Barbara Ellen Cooper (1878-1962) was institutionalised for much of her life, initially into Newport Workhouse after giving birth illegitimately to Mary Ann Cooper. Arthur Henry has been tracked through censuses to Pontypridd in 1911. To this point he seems to have been unmarried and was employed for most of his adult life to that point as a coal miner, underground. However, we lose track of him until a very likely death reference in 1935 which records his residence still in Pontypridd but his death after being knocked down by a motor car, aged 57 years, occurred in The Royal Infirmary, Cardiff on 9th June, 1935. We are very keen to receive anything that firmly links this death to 'our' Arthur Henry and also to contact anyone who has anything to help fill in the large gap in this narrative. We also need anything that might enlighten us about Barbara Ellen Cooper who appears to have been known for most of her life as simpley 'Ellen'.
red mail Roberts / Davies Pontypridd
My grandma Clarice Roberts has links to Pontypridd: was married here in around 1945 and she worked at the Parsons Bakery around that time. She had lived as a child in another part of Wales but I don't know where. Her father was one Hughie Roberts but apparently he abandoned the family and ran off to London. The family rumour mill also suggests her mother, Jane or Jenny (I think her maiden name was Davies or Edwards) killed herself in later years. The family lived in poverty, and my Nan was a social climber who covered up her past (lying about her age and background). Her brothers were Cledwyn and Kenny and her sister was known as Pat. Rumour mill also suggests that Hughie might have been a rag and bone man, although my Nan called him a 'merchant' - any information gratefully received!

red mail Ethel Gomer-Lewis
I am seeking information relating to this lady, born in Pontypridd about 1897 - she died in Weybridge aged 92 in 1989. She was a mezzo soprano, and was a National Eisteddfod solo contest winner 7 times I believe. Her second husband was the father of actor Rupert Davies (TV Maigret). I believe she also 'appeared' in the old Welsh Rarebit radio series and gave organ solos at the Grand Pavilion in Porthcawl. Any information would be greatly appreciated - I have been told that she was a first cousin to my husband's grandfather (Ivor Llewelyn Jenkins) but from present research am unable to make the link and wonder whether 'the link' is through Ivor's mother, Elizabeth Llewelyn. She was born in Merthyr Tydfil on 15th May 1854 - daughter of Daniel Llewelyn and Ann Davis (Davies?) She married Daniel Jenkins on 10th June 1876 and they lived in Pontypridd. Elizabeth was the eldest of 7 children, the others being Jemima, Evan, William, Mary Ann, Daniel and Catherine. All the children were born in Merthyr, other than Catherine who was born in Pontypridd round about 1873. If anyone has any information whatsoever regarding any of these people I would be so grateful to hear from them in the hope that I can make 'the link' on my 'Tree'. Many thanks.
red mail Martha Davies nee Bazzant
I am trying to find more information about the Davies family. In 1901 Martha b.1852 is living in Williams Place, Upper Boat with husband Isaac DAVIES B.1846 and children John and Bertha. The death was brought in as suicide caused by temporary insanity but the family have maintained that Isaac may have caused her death. Obviously this is intriguing and I would like to know more about the family. Bertha died without children of her own and we do not know what happened to John or William. I would be grateful for any info.
