red mail Pople Family
I am looking for any information on the Pople family. My great grandparents were Fredrick and Emma and in 1915 lived at no 14 Gladstone Road. They moved there from Street in around 1908. My grandmother was their youngest daughter, Florence Winifred, known as Winnie, and she would have been about 12 in 1915 and her elder sister Beatrice was married to Emyr Cole and lived around the corner at 1 Irene Street. I know about 3 brothers, who died in or just after the war, Edwin, BJ and Frederick and George who I believe survived. I think there was another brother William who was a miner. I am particularly interested in any information on the mining, as I believe that my GGG died down the mines with one or more of his sons.

Searching for information re Walter Thomas b. c1811/12 in Cayo, Camarthenshire.( On the census forms his place of birth is listed as Llandilofawr, but this is not recognised in any searches). His occupations are listed as a waggoner, labourer and coal miner. He married Catherine (no maiden name). They moved to Mountain Ash (Civil Parish Llanwonno). Their children were Benjamin b.1841, Catherine b.1839 and Mary b.1842. Benjamin also became a coal miner and married Harriet (no maiden name). Their sons were: John, Ivor and Gomer who became coal miners and one daughter Catherine who worked as domestic servant. I recently bought 2 postcards off e bay of a couple named Sidney & May Witts from Newent. The 1st one was of their wedding in May 1917 and the 2nd one in 1918. Research has shown that they had a daughter called Phyllis May Witts who married a Frederick Mansell in 1948 (ish). Phyllis was recorded as living in Llanwonno Road, Mountain Ash in 1996 and I think she died in 2005. I would love to be able to provide copies of these postcards to any living descendants.
