red mail Maria Thornton
I am researching Maria Thornton, born 1819, daughter of James and Esther Thornton. Any help would be gratefully received especially of her family pre 1841. Julie
I am searching for anyone associated with my great g grandmother's family her name was Matilda Bennewith b 1852 I think her father was Thomas BENNEWITH (Licensed Victualler) m Lucy Riley. There are a lot of Bennewiths in this area and I need to find the right one. Matilda married Arthur A Gear in Hackney 1886. One of the witnesses was a Lillie Bennewith. There seems to be a link with a Samuel CLAYDON.
Foulness Heritage Centre
For those who have connections with Foulness, there is a Heritage Centre which opens to the public on the first Sunday of each month from April - October, 12 - 4pm. Admission Free. They have all the records for you to refer to, plus on show are Family Trees for almost every family born on Foulness. Well worth a visit - lots to see - a cup of tea and a piece of homemade cake and maybe a chat with a local. Hope to see you there.

Trying to find marriage for James COOK to Hannah - circa 1820. On the 1851 census, Hannah gives her place of birth as Foulness c1797 - but that's all the info. I have to go on. Sadly James had died by 1851 so I do not know where he came from. Any help / ideas appreciated.

Am hoping to find out anything about Sarah Clift and her family. She married Benjamin Bartram on Foulness in 1797 but does not appear to have been born there as she does not appear in the parish register under baptisms. She had at least 2 children Hannah and Thomas. Moved to North Shoebury but cannot trace her death. There is a Clift family in Great Wakering but I cannot place her there.

red mail Rawlings of Foulness island
My grandfather was Alfred Rawlings. His father was George Rawlings, married to Rachel Harrod.Any info on either.
My ancestors were called Battram on various official documents but I believe were originally Bartram. Thomas Battram was born on Foulness around 1798 (he and a sibling Hannah were baptised as Bartram in that year) to Benjamin and Sarah Bartram. Hannah was buried in April 1799. I cannot find any other evidence of this family in the 18th century. Thomas moved to North Shoebury by 1841 census. Any information gratefully received. Bev
